And is the mastering on this pressing going to be any different from the one a few years ago?

Janelle Monae? Billie Eilish (last album is really great). Disclosure: turned 50 this year.

The ones doing it intentionally; yes, they are trolling.

Those are two out of my three favorite female artists right now. The other is St. Vincent. There's plenty of great music out there by people of all ages. You just have to be open to it. And I'm 51.

And Prince was a fan of Janelle Monae, as well. He even played on one of her albums.

Hopefully not too much worse - my original Euro pressing sounds great - but the 1999 remaster sounds a bit better than the original pressings.

If I could just buy the Vault releases without having to buy SOTT album, remixes, live release etc - that would be perfect - But - Warners are not doing a Dylan Bootleg type of release for vault material, so we all have to buy the album again and perhaps again.:agree:

I guess technically this will only be the second time most have purchased the album on CD unless they went for the Japanese mini-lp's so it's not like some artists catalogs that have been released 5 or 6 times.

It will be my 4th time buying SOTT. First Aussie pressing, then the ultimate pressing - original Euro and the 2016 KG remaster. warners milking me all the way to the bank.:agree:

I really loved the use of gatefolds in the 1999 LP box (and cd box for that matter), I really wish they’d have done the same for this big box. Even each record in a single jacket, in a bigger slipcase would be better than multiple discs in single jackets, especially 3 discs.

I usually don't have any issues with damages but these box sets usually have scratched disks due to the poor packaging that is common today. I like the fact that Amazon will send me a replacement within days and I can go through all the disks to build the "perfect" set before I send back the return.

Tried and tried. I did enjoy some of St. Vincent's stuff but not so much lately.

They’re losing the non-soundtrack catalog in 2021. I’m not clear if the transfer kicks in on January 1st or sometime midway thru the year, though.

Not too much longer. Warner will only retain Purple Rain, Parade, Batman and Graffiti Bridge next year, Sony will acquire the non-soundtrack albums just like they now have the post 1995 albums

Prince surpassed all of those people IMO. All of those people were geniuses but they could never do the things that Prince did. And i love them all

all genius , but Prince surpassed them all. James was a true originator, but he only stroke one (funky) cord. Sly was also great, but only a couple of albums until his demise. Jimi was a star of P's stature, but didn't live enough to have a more diverse career.
What also made Prince special was the width of his kaleidoscope
