Musicians w/ Long Marriages?

Well it's news to me that the Daltreys have an open marriage.

I read a really good biography of Adam a few years ago and IIRC Jackie wouldn't divorce him. She seemed resigned to his philandering. Quite a complicated bloke and difficult to get along with, by all accounts. Everyone involved with the Stardust movie remembers him as a miserable sod who felt that he was above everyone else.

 

Well, in terms of years and in an "in name only" basis, that marriage was long, but . . . yeah, Mr. Faith was some character, wasn't he?

 

Flora Purim & Airto married since the 1960s.

 

Yo La Tengo's Ira Kaplan and Georgia Hubley have been married since the 80s--and they work together, of course.

 

It amazes me that he was able to put up with his bandmate's antics in the late 60s and 70s. It must have been the ultimate test of patience to put up with Brian, Keith, Mick, the other Miick, and to a lesser extent Bill, and later on, Ron.

 

Lawrence Welk - 61 years

 

Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gorme were married to each other from 1957 until Eydie passed in 2013.

 

Dion and his wife Susan have been married since 1963.

 

What do you mean Bill to a lesser extent? Bill was the horniest guy in the Stones!

 

That’s what I thought of first. Three of my favourite bands are based on this:
Ira and Georgia from Yo La Tengo
Mimi and Alan from Low (first album in the early 90s, together since high school)
Liz and Dan from Ida (first album in the early 90s, together since going to Brown I believe)

Jeff Tweedy from Wilco has been with his wife Susie since the late 80s or so. They met when she owned Lounge Ax in Chicago. Uncle Tupelo played there frequently and would sleep on the floor of her place when they passed through town. She’s several years older than him and they have grown kids now.

 

Toni was a local girl. Didn’t know her but she was smoking hot in school

 

Steven Van Zandt has been married to Maureen since 1982.

 

And they married when she was 19 and Steve was 89.

 

Love Richie’s voice. Wish the corona virus would end so guys like him could get out in the road instead of turning into tv news junkies. He is a super duper crazy trump supporter.

 

True but I would bet often easier to communicate and get on with than the rest as like Charlie they would keep their egos in check in band situations.
Still you have a good point, he was the dirty old man of the Stones!
