Alien/Aliens and the first Predator. The rest serves little to no purpose for me.

  3. The Hermit

The Hermit Wavin' that magick glowstick since 1976

Can I vote for five instead of four?

Alien/Aliens/Alien 3... everything after that is utterly worthless.

Predator/Predator 2... see above comment, ditto for this franchise.

The Alien franchise has gone right off the rails and is in need of a serious rebooting. This idea/concept of these prequels tying into the storyline of the original ' Alien' movie is not working. Not for me anyway.

I think the original "Predator" is overrated! :shh:

Alien and Aliens are top, no question.

Alien 3 is one of my four choices as long as it's the restored extended version from the bluray box set. It's a completely different film from the theatrical cut, and really holds its own against the first two in my opinion.

Rounding out my top 4 is Prometheus, which I think is a terrific, intelligent, atmospheric and interesting film. I'll defend it til the day I die.

I disagree - an Alien reboot would just be lots of CGI xenomorphs running around. Basically the least interesting parts of Covenant. I thought Prometheus was a gripping and successful attempt to go somewhere new with the franchise, but I felt Scott lost his nerve with Covenant - people complained that there weren't enough aliens in Prometheus so he put them in Covenant, and the result was a mish-mash of stuff we'd seen before.

I disagree with your disagreement. ' Prometheus ' had potential but seriously lost its way.

  9. The first 3 on the list got my vote. And I’m a sucker for Prometheus-flawed as it is.

First two Alien and Predator films were what I voted for here. All 4 are extremely solid, well done action/ horror flicks.

It gets way dicier after that. The third and fourth Alien films are a bit on the lousy side, as are the third and fourth Predator movies. I actually hated Prometheus (though I thought Covenant was a big step up from it).

I do find the first Aliens Vs Predator pretty enjoyable (though the second was awful).

It's not that I hated ' Prometheus ' because I didn 't. It just went off the rails. Took itself a bit too seriously too. ' Covenant ' as well in a lesser way.
What 's the key ingredient in an Alien movie ? The Alien. Not some droid fingering some other droid's flute hole or some babe with daddy issues.

As for the Alien/ Predator movies....well, I look at those as entertaining popcorn movies. Nothing more , nothing less.

See Marvel Comics have bought the rights for Alien & Predator. Could see The Predator in MCU.

All the later day sequels were pointless as far as I'm concerned.

    Alien: A classic
    Aliens: A classic
    Predator: A classic
Predator 2: Fantastic sequel, very underrated
Alien 3: Different approach, but ultimately a miss
Alien Resurrection: Has some fun moments, but very wonky and self-referential
AVP: I enjoy it, also underrated
AVP 2: Terrible sequel I thought
    Predators: Not bad, not great
Prometheus: I really disliked this movie
Alien Covenant: Big step up from Prometheus, enjoyable if not particularly memorable
The Predator: Terrible and disappointing--WTF were they thinking?

I re-watched Predator 2 about a month ago, and I was genuinely surprised how much I enjoyed it.
