" That 's inside the room !" I hear you about this gaping lapse of intelligence about the crawlspace. Why didn't Newt tell them .? She must have known. Even Gorman should have figured that out.
Thought I read originally it was going to be R rated. Shane Black wanted Connor McGregor the mixed martial arts boxer in it.But the Irish boxer passed when he was told he wouldn’t have been the ⭐️.
Jesus, that would have been even more horrible. Of course, they had Jesse "The Body" Ventura in the original, and that was pretty good. The lead actor in The Predator, Boyd Holbrook, is decent and seems like a cool enough guy. But it kind of underlines Hollywood's change in approach to leading action heroes in 21st century. And that probably explains the goofball ragtag cast of characters in The Predator. It would be pretty awesome to Jason Statham in one of these movies--not as the lead, but as support, who of course gets killed eventually in a gory way. Statham was one of the last great action movie stars, IMO.
Boyd Holbrook, no gravitas. Statham never dies in his films. Except for the John Carpenter movie. Hollywood is a changing all right, the macho man’s days are over. There’s even talk of a female James Bond with Emily Blunt( good in Sicario).
It arguably started changing as far back as when Keanu Reeves in The Matrix was considered an action hero.
Requiem? Yeah! The second one where Alien / Predator duke it out on earth had its moments. But.. it was a very dark film, that was to make the fx look better, budget constraints. The first 20 minutes on the Predator spacecraft was the best bit, I found.
I barely remember it. Me, my sister and my brother in law went to see it in the theater, and we were all fairly repulsed by it. Even though they amped up the gore and dark vibe in the film, there didn't seem to be much story there. I'm willing to give it another chance someday though. I re-watched the first AvP a few years back, and enjoyed the hell out of it. Very much in the vein of the earlier Aliens / Predator movies IMO, despite the PG-13. I think it also helped that Dan O'Bannon and Ronald Shusett, the original writers of Alien, have a screen story credit on it.
I thought the first Resident Evil was decent for what it was, probably one of the only decent movies ever based on a video game (almost all of them are crap).
Thought that would have made a great premise for a Predator movie. Ironically the first Predator film Arnie & gang are really The Expendables. Jump cut: Stallone... Statham, Arnie etc should have been taken taken prisoners ala Predators ( 2010) and taken to Pred world .. not only to fight Preds but Aliens as well.
Ha! Looking at the poll. Not a lot of love apart from three films. This has been the same response since I can remember here.
If they ever do another Predator film they should get a more suitable director, Mel Gibson, Stallone for example.
I liked Carl Weathers ( Apollo Creed/Rocky) in it as well. Sonny Landham was one tough guy(scary even )... even his character Sonny couldn’t take on The Pred ( bridge screams).
