Yes, some older shows for whatever reason will do that. Not hold up or just get old after a few watchings.
One Step Beyond...still hoping for a complete DVD or BD box! Does anyone remember the gas pill episode? man invents a gas pill when mixed with water turns to gasoline...(...no flatulence found anywhere. ; )...) met with the Gov and soon disappeared! geez...
^ ^ ^ I DO remember seeing that forever ago. Seems to me it was a two-parter. The other segment was about live things raining (frogs?) or a glider that landed with nobody in it. Sound familiar? But the guy inventing that “instant” gasoline pill was a killer.
A bit tragic but I recently bought a couple of boxsets of the Australian soap Neighbours. These particular sets were of the first episodes from 1985. I started watching the series in 1987, as a lot of people did at the time, but gave up on it after a while so it's been fun to watch episodes that pre-dated when I started watching it. It if course launched a number of careers that are still going strong including Kylie Minogue, Guy Pearce and Russell Crowe.
Same here. I stumbled across the dedicated channel on Pluto TV the other day. While it is not on demand for each episode they run episodes 24/7 and they seem to be chronological order. I find myself turning to it a couple of times a day to watch a couple of episodes. This show still holds up.
87th Precinct. I used to read the paperbacks by Ed McBain this early '60s b&w Robert Lansing show was based on but, I'm enjoying the show too. Really good cast including Normal Fell. I'd rate it above Decoy: Police Woman which I also have on hand. Fell and Lansing.
The Buffalo Bill Show 1983-4 Adult comedy created and mostly written by Jay Tarses. Pretty close to real life live radio and tv production. The Jerry Lewis Week (impersonaters) episode with a very young Jim Carrey is a laugh riot.
Recently watched the first half dozen or so episodes of The Prisoner with Patrick McGoohan. Started off excellent, but it has really meandered a bit the last few episodes. Think it's 20 eps long, will probably stick it out. Beyond that, I have started watching the Kolchak movies and will start the 20 TV episodes this week. The first Kolchak movie was entertaining.
The Mrs and I have been re-watching Columbo. This is I think the third time we've watched all of them since we've been together.
I have also been watching this sporadically over the last couple of years. It's interesting how often the storylines can reflect current events. I watched an episode recently where the 25th amendment was invoked for example.....
Watching Peter Gunn on Prime. I watched this as a kid. Besides the iconic Mancini music, the always-seems-to-be-night exteriors, and the characters, the surprise was they presented a crime and cleaned it up - all in a half hour.
