Due to Corona/Covid it could be interesting to see when people start to get their box sets, plus I know many of us went thru Universal, Bull Moose, Import CD's etc, instead of the usual Amazon...…..
Nice promo poster, sad thing was US radio completely ignored "Only Love Remains" as the 3rd single from PTP!
I really like this music video...I don’t recall liking much at first, but upon revisiting it on The McCartney Years since then, it’s become a favorite.
These videos are not exactly ‘World premieres’ are they? We’ve had these videos in our collections for years!
"Only Love Remains" would have been a better lead-off single than "Press" just as "Beautiful Night" would have been better than "Young Boy" or "The World Tonight" (depending on where you lived) to kick off 'Flaming Pie' but Paul has a history of questionable first singles. "From A Lover To A Friend" comes to mind...
The ballads/acoustic songs weren’t mastered that hot as the rockers on the original 1997 master. But even ‘Beautiful Night’ got 3db of extra head room. This is going well! It shouldn't be a surprise by now, but again the waveforms are inverted in comparison with the original 1997 master.
Apparently, it doesn't impact the sound in the least. I guess it's just nice to know that it has the correct polarity now. Absolute Polarity Blind Listening Test
I always thought one had to reverse the polarity of the neutron flow... Seriously, thanks for the link. Glad it didn’t impact the sound!
That’s what I thought as well, his vocal sounds much more effortless or younger in some ways than on the album version.
Well, it has been explained : Yes, in short terms it doesn't matter if the peaks go up or down. The big problem would be if one channel of a master would be inverted. There was some controversy about this on the 2009 remaster of 'Revolver'. Beatles 2009 CDs - did any have inverted polarity besides the stereo Revolver? And it was even promoted as a correction of a big error on a 'Skylarking' re-issue: XTC's Andy Partridge: Your copy of 'Skylarking' sounds wrong There's a little discussion over here as well whether it makes a difference or not. Either way it's interesting that for both 'Pure McCartney' in 2016 and the new 2020 remaster the polarity is different. Which means something went wrong in the final mastering stage of the original 1997 issue. Because 'Pure McCartney' worked from a compressed and limited 1997 master, and this 2020 remaster from a tape without that compression and limiting.
