It's been a long wait for the fans but finally the entire AC/DC discography has appeared in 24bit version! (among others on Qobuz)
    Someone heard these remasters?
    What do you think?

Really hope there won't be the 2003 remasters

Such a shame. This could have been the time to replace the '03 remasters with a new set of masters but alas looks like we are going to be stuck with those '03 masters forever.

    what's wrong with the '03's?

Very loud. They are among the most disliked remasters on the site.

Wow I had no idea. I thought the packaging was handled superbly, but as far as the audio.... yeah it's been a while since I've listened to them.

Either sheer laziness or whomever owns the tapes blocks access.

Those digipack releases were very nice but the actual audio is terrible.
    Yep, Get the Diament's
I kind of want to blame Angus. The Youngs have always been very protective over the catalog so I kind of feel a lot of the reason for lack of deluxe editions and a proper Hi-Res campaign is down to them

    The Diament's? Ah.... this....

AC/DC CD's mastered by Barry Diament - which ones?

Thanks, makes sense as to why their albums are black-listed from audiophile labels.

Barry Diament mastered most of the original AC/DC CDs from the '80s when they were released under the ATCO/Atlantic labels. His version of Back in Black is regarded as the best CD version of the album.

I don't know that for a fact but who else would have that much control over the catalog besides Angus and Malcom when he was alive.

Does anyone have a definitive list of the catalog numbers for the official Diament cd masterings? There seems to be a bit of confusion on the other thread I posted above. This list will help me and others know exactly which ones to look out for. Thanks!

Thank you. I was reading the other thread and he was saying that he couldn't remember if he did Powerage. Great info. Thanks!!

Its easier to assume he didn't do the ones not listed in the Essential Barry Diament masters thread.

Ok. I've never heard of Barry. What are your thoughts? Why is he 'special', for lack of a better word.

He's one of the more highly regarded mastering engineers on the site. His AC/DC and Led Zeppelin titles are still the best versions of those albums on CD/Digital.

The american catalog numbers are different, in case Kermit is looking in the USA. Mine are mostly Japan pressings, so I cant provide the USA ones. I'm sure someone else can.

I wonder where the original master tapes recorded at Albert's reside. I think they should be put in a purpose built shrine somewhere in Sydney that we can all go and worship at.

If they are brickwalled, I'm out. The headphones don't lie ;)
