You're much more like Dick Latvala than you'd like to believe. Wouldn't you prefer "most expressive" or "most intense" just to leave room for "greatest" somewhere down the line?
I understand this has unexpectedly shipped, people are taking delivery as I type...... GRATEFUL DEAD 1995 LIVE THERE WERE DAYS Probably never be an official 1995 box. So I made my own damn box. Original shn's > xACT > WAV > ProTools LE > ocenaudio > xACT > FLAC > back into the wild. I remastered all of the soundboard recordings from 1995 and many of the audience captures. Deciding what to use was tricky sometimes. What are the good performances? Were they available as soundboard? Were they decent sounding soundboards without issues? Can everything be made to fit?? It all kind of drove me mad at times. So I don't know what's wrong with me but I love the '95 shows! I liked the direction of the band at this time. Of course these songs have issues that come and go. Botched lyrics. Bum notes. What key is this song in moments. Pay no attention to Jerry's initial vocals in Scarlet Begonias. lol It's a bit screwy but the tune rocks the eff out!! And Bob's guitar tone is crazy at times but it all fits!! Love it!! Each of the 'shows' as I constructed them can be burned to CD. Each set one, one CD each. Each set two should be split between Drums and Space. For a total of 9 CD's. All of the text files from the original shn #'s are included. Thanks to everyone who shared all of this in the first place. I did not use any of the recordings that have been officially released. Caveat Emptor: Speed-Pitch is not 100% guaranteed to be just exactly perfect. I'll always think it should have been though. 02-20 Salt Lake City shn #144300 02-26 Oakland shn #144290 03-17 Philadelphia shn #97658 03-18 Philadelphia shn #97659 03-19 Philadelphia shn #136858 03-23 Charlotte shn #142397 03-24 Charlotte shn #83900 03-26 Atlanta shn #34935 03-27 Atlanta shn #3194 03-30 Atlanta shn #119786 04-07 Tampa shn #35364 05-21 Las Vegas shn #114329 05-26 Seattle shn #35169 06-02 Mountain View shn #114337 06-04 Mountain View shn #13929 06-24 Washington D.C. shn #12271 06-25 Washington D.C. shn #147721 07-02 Noblesville shn #92522 07-06 Maryland Heights shn #35156 07-08 Chicago shn #114363 Jerry to Bob, final goodbye's backstage 07-09: "Always a hoot, Man. I was just jumping on late tonight to post this very thing. Thanks! At the usual places, in case anyone is wondering.
Yep, that DiP11 setlist didn’t go unnoticed! But the trigger has been pulled on DiP36 and is due to arrive tomorrow.
Oh, I just realized most of them seem to still be up, with Beat Club as an exception (maybe because they don't own the footage?). Anyhow, here's Buckeye, and the others are available on the same channel: They could still be limited, though, so any interested parties might still want to grab them.
I think the China White might have been coming in through Pittsburgh. I'm not a big fan of that Pitts 90 show. The band seems overly medicated and not in a synergistic way
6/17/91 disappeared shortly after the stream too, a shame because that was a much better show than 6/14 that also streamed.
Back to 5/19/74 starting in the middle I’ll watch the DDHNM tonight if it’s up BUT Jerry pre-Groovy on China is the best guitar solo I’ve heard so far today...
What’s more amazing to me is how free jazz opens me more up to The Dead and likewise how The Dead opens me up to abstract freely improvised music. So different yet....
For anyone interested, Jerry's 1st album is being run as the current Weakest Link game...................... Poll--The Weakest Link: Jerry Garcia GARCIA (1st album), Round 1 Vote down to your favorite song, and join the daily discussion.
I've mentioned before that this was the first bootleg GD cassette I ever acquired. Still one of my favorite Scarlet>Fires, especially the transition, which is an all-time great version. The whole thing has that bubbly early-80s energy, and Jerry takes a simple melody at the start of the transition and works it thoroughly over, building up to a great climax before the actual transition into "Fire" occurs. This tape also features a rare-for-the-time "Crazy Fingers" and a great post-space NFA.
Again back to 5/19/74, Donna bails Bobby out on the WRS when he forgets the lyrics before Rise & Fall.... band on fire - besides that kerfuffle this is a gorgeous version...
There are a lot of great shows in 1989. I didn't find this to be a great show. It's not bad but I don't want you poking around into mediocre 89 stuff, your anti-latter era prejudice is too strong already so I'm only going to allow you to listen to the best representations of that era.
Plus my wife hates hearing Jerry’s voice past probably 1982 She listens as I watch these video streams and right away she will start to comment if and when Jerry’s voice starts creaking. Just as you are getting excited to hear his now well worn voice she starts getting sad and depressed knowing of his impending doom
