Think the last decade from glamour in the cinema would be the 1950’s.

Something about the color saturation in films, make up ( females ) hairstyle, clothes. Movie stars just seemed to exude glamour then. Tony Curtis, Sophia Loren for example.

Hmmm, I get what you're saying, but I don't think I have any particularly glamorous films in my collection. I guess I might say Grace Kelly is the most glamorous actress that I have a film of, but that film is Dial M for Murder, which itself isn't that glamorous. She fine though. :D

Sean Young is kinda glamorous in the middle of a film noir style sci-fi flick.

I would say either Grace Kelly, Marilyn Monroe, Natalie Wood or Elizabeth Taylor are the Mount Rushmore of Glamor for Hollywood.

And BTW I don't think anyone today approaches that level of glamor.....maybe Diane Layne or Kate Beckinsale

Joan Blondell appeared in so many movies back when and rarely as a lead, but she was a doll.

I fear this will be another depressing thread of bygone glory. I think the OP is probably right about the 50s but the 50s did extend a few years into the 60s. Umbrellas of Cherbourg with Catherine Deneuve might be the closer. It even features the mysterious Ellen Farner who has apparently vanished. I guess I need to put my DVDs under lock and key.

Re the OP, three films from that classic phase come to mind:

    - The Bad & The Beautiful (1952, starring a beautiful Lana Turner)
    - Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953)
    - Viva Las Vegas (1964, my favorite Elvis movie)

I guess "Show Boat" (1951) and "Niagara" would also fit into that category. Glamorous films that I love.

She is pretty damn glamorous in Rear Window. In fact, I would define it as glamor.

Not even James Bond looked as good as Cary Grant in a tuxedo!
