John Fogerty, who actually performed as a pseudo-Wilbury:

I'd say Don Everly would have enjoyed it.

I don't think the point of replacing Orbison would have been to find a suitable voice. They would have been to add something different. Adn that's what they did when Gary Moore was credited as a Wilbury on volume 3.

I agree -- Dion, Don Everly, Del Shannon...these three would have kept the spirit and some of the vocal blend, if not the timbre, of Orbison.

That nearly happened! George said, in an interview, that the Wilburys got legal clearance to use a Presley vocal track, to be credited as "Aaron Wilbury." Then they decided it would be too gimmicky. (And THEN Jeff and George did the same thing with a Lennon vocal track...)

Who knows? Maybe this is one group who would’ve had the balls to tell Neil to FO when he gets difficult. Anyhow, I think there was a chemistry to the five man TW that was irreplaceable once Roy passed.

Yeah, I don't really think they could've replaced Roy and it's probably for the best that they didn't try (after the whole Del Shannon debacle).

True. But in private Bob could be pretty humorous at times.

Remember the supposed story about Bob Dylan and Neil Diamond backstage at the Band's Last Waltz concert. After Neil got off stage, he said to Bob, "Top that", and Bob replied, "What am I supposed to do, go out there and fall asleep?".
