    Classic SHF post!

It was not a Paul composition.

Paul is not credited on the song.

It was credited Harrison / Lennon.

But hey, we're on the Paul McCartney Forum, where Paul gets praise for everything in rock history! :wtf:

    It’s George.

Tony never claimed it was him. George said he did it. John said they did it without Tony. George and John wrote it. Case closed.

I'm a bit surprised no one has mentioned it being Bernard Purdie playing the lead.

It's incredible, isn't it? The most celebrated rock musician alive, and yet some individuals on the forum feel he's not given his due, so they have to manufacture lies.

And you might be 50 before it concludes.

One things for sure, it doesn't sound like Hank Marvin. :-popcorn:..
(I can't believe I beat Albert Grove to that one)

    One last tidbit:
I put Cry and the Beach Boys Karate on the end of a Ventures album I put to tape.

You are confusing it with In Spite Of All The Danger.

I’ll clear this mystery up, it was Jimmy Page.

    Off topic question.

Did John Lennon ever have his Rikenbacker Capri restored to its original finish?

I was listening to this the other day and I absolutely loved the tone of Johns guitar on this. So different! Different strokes I guess!

Could it not have been the same scenario though? Lennon wrote it mostly but George came up with the solo, so it's a Harrison/Lennon credit? The In Spite of All the Danger example could be strong indication that George played the lead here since they had a prior instance of giving George songwriting credit early on for writing/playing the guitar solo. By George's own admission, he wasn't writing songs really at this point, so I think this is a plausible scenario.

Yes, a rather heavy-handed restoration was done sometime in the 70s, where the finish was stripped off and the scratchplate replaced (!). See here.
