For those of us who have been following Kathleen Edwards, her last album, Voyageur, was released in 2011. She then went on to leave the music business and open a coffee shop in her native Canada. Late last year, Edwards revealed she was working on a new album, and the first single from it has dropped: "Options Open". Some really nice jangle pop here.

Wow, there's a welcome surprise! I didn't think she'd ever release more music. Voyageur was one of my most played records in 2012. She has such a pleasant, clear voice. I like the new song. Is there a date confirmed for the new album? I can't find much info.

Great news! One of my favorite female voices.
Now if they would just release her first album Failer on vinyl, I'd be even happier.

Good to hear new music from Kathleen Edwards. She used to be a regular on the festival circuit in Canada. I look forward to the new album.

I have been saving $1000s a year since my favorite artists stopped releasing CDs. But then again, I am not getting much new music anymore either. Because I will NEVER buy downloads!

You can pre-order the album on her website, including gold vinyl, and signed options.

Also, some very interesting options for a private Zoom concert and a 10-minute meet and greet on Zoom or Google meets.

I liked Voyageur a lot, but think Asking For Flowers is her best so far. Voyageur had a little too much of that guy from whatever band he's from. :D

No one asked, but this is probably my favorite KE song:

Agree that Asking for Flowers is fabulous. I still listen to it often, 12 years later. Also have it on vinyl, which is rare now, it seems.

"Alicia Ross" never fails to slay me.

Great news! Love Asking for Flowers, which is IMHO her best effort. Will certainly look out for the album dropping in August.

So glad she’s back! I struggled with Voyageur’s production a bit but the songs were still good, but this one is definitely going to be better. Can’t wait. She’s been teasing this for a couple years now, posting Instagram shots from Nashville and in the studio, glad somethings finally come of it.

This is, indeed, wonderful news. Her FB page says 8/14/20 as well, and the pre-order page is up, so I'm pretty sure it's happening. I've been following Kathleen since Failer in 2003 and it's been fascinating to see the changes she's gone through with each new album. Really looking forward to this album-sounds like she's in a much better place than after Voyageur.

The new song and short preview from the new album both sound very promising!

I've been listening to Voyageur and Asking For Flowers constantly for the last week or so. Her melodies and voice are addictive. Really looking forward to the new record.

Glad she's back. It is the music that matters, but what an unimaginative album cover - basically just a closer-up version of Tori Amos' Under the Pink album cover.
