i didn't realize Dan Aykroyd had a brief appearance in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom until recently, despite seeing it numerous times. That was a bit odd and can't believe I miss d that all these years. Any other film cameos that you think are often missed or not well known?
Frank Marshall The executive producer of the 4 films Frank Marshall [no other acting credits?] appears in the 4 films.
Wow - you never noticed until your umpteenth screening? Aykroyd's presence was always completely obvious, IMO - and a distraction, as that cameo threatened to take the viewer out of the movie...
I learned about his cameo on the original Blues Brothers DVD were it was listed in his filmography though it still took me years to figure out what scene he was in.
I didn't notice until today, when someone told me about it on the Steve Hoffman forum. Though it is my least favorite of the original three and I've probably only seen it maybe, 2-3 times.
The Exorcist III (1990), of all things, has a handful: Samuel L. Jackson in a dream sequence Larry King and C. Everett Koop in a restaurant Patrick Ewing as the angel of death Colleen Dewhurst uncredited as the voice of Satan Fabio as an uncredited angel Hoyas Coach John Thompson walking across the street
William Holden in "Escape To Athena" Dean Martin in "Who's Got The Action" & "Birds Do It" Kevin McCarthy reprising his "Invasion Of The Body Snatchers" role in both the 1970's remake as well as "Looney Tunes Back In Action" Just to name a few.
James Caan as a sailor with a hooker in "Irma La Douce" (though to be fair , this was at the start of his career, so one could just consider this a tiny role for barely known actor at the time who later became hugely famous , like Ted Knight in "Psycho" and Judd Hirsch in "Serpico")
Ron Howard played an aggressive busker playing sax to Henry Winkler in Night Shift. Clint Howard played a frat boy for a party at the morgue in the same movie.
There's a difference between "cameo" and "bit part". Costner's was a bit part - ya gotta be well-known to do a cameo and he was a nobody!
Drew Barrymore makes a short appearance in the Nosferatu section of Waxwork II Glenn Close as a pirate in Hook Adam Lambert as a "sexy" trucker in Bohemian Rhapsody Lee Majors gets his head lopped off at the very beginning of Strait-Jacket, that that was just an early bit part.
It's well known that Alfred Hitchcock made a cameo appearance in many of his films. My favourite one is in ' Lifeboat ' where he is shown on a weight loss ad in a newspaper. They couldn't very well show him on the boat !
Shirley MacLaine & Red Skelton in "Ocean's 11" Dean Martin & Frank Sinatra in "The Road To Hong Kong" John Wayne in "I Married A Woman" William Castle & Tony Curtis in "Rosemary's Baby" Jack Lemmon in his own film "Kotch"
