by the way I have this set and I find it to be quite good. It's fun to go through all the singles chronologically and listen to them.
I didn't pay full price for it when it came out. But I bought it recently for the price that it's at now.
I didn't need it. But I am a Beatles fan. And this is a cool bit of nostalgia.
if it ever goes out of print and sells for hundreds of dollars I'll probably unload it on some poor sucker

When you watch that video, there's a section where he talks about digitizing all the singles reels to work with them in the digital domain. It's not entirely clear if the digitized masters were then used to cut the 45s, or if the work in the digital domain was just to figure out the moves that they'd need to make when they respooled the tape one last time.

(I'm not talking about the two singles they discuss being from digital because the original tapes were missing/damaged).

I thought it was pretty clear that he did go from the digital masters to cut the 45s. there were some early repairs and adjustments, and also a desire to not overly spin the tapes and therefore preserving them.

Magee talks about how he used the digital masters to figure out his approach but with the exception of the missing Love Me Do, the damaged She Loves You and the two '90s tracks (Free as a Bird and Real Love), they were all cut from the analog masters.

His exact words: "... it seemed the obvious thing to do actually with the singles is to do them all analog."

(Trower) I bought the 1973-76 1st 5 albums on cd box a couple years ago. Hesitant to basically repurchase. Anyone have a mastering comparison between the 2?

There's a lot of discussion about that in the main thread for this release:
Robin Trower - The Studio Albums 1973-1983

Comment #43 has a nice summary...

My original pressing sounds fantastic. Bruce's reissue series has been very good, equal to or better than nearly every original in my opinion. I bet this one sounds great, it's cut by Chris Bellman.

I couldn't find any info on Discogs. Is it confirmed?
