Reports on the Discogs forum indicate that they're slow on getting back to people. If you don't hear back in a couple of weeks I would submit another request. Based on what you posted here, there is no reason why they wouldn't remove the negative feedback.

If the sellers feedback is left unscathed that has more to do with you than Discogs. You are the one that left the feedback and you couldn't left a negative. You chose not to, which is nice of you, but you can't be annoyed with Discogs about the feedback that you left. No one forced you to be nice. I don't want to sound harsh but basically your kindness has not been rewarded and that happens sometimes.

I've been buying on both platforms for many years. Problems on both. Good times on both and I've bought under 60 items on Discogs.

In addition, you did post upthread that there was other feedback warning buyers that this seller has issues with shipping and refunding. So you were warned.

Discogs actually did help you though didn't they? They let previous negative feedback stand which was a warning to other buyers and when the seller did not respond they forced him to reply and suspended his account. PayPal can do the rest.

If you want to talk about being forgiving then eBay is a great place to start. There are sellers selling fake memorabilia, records, etc and no matter how many times people try and report them, eBay does nothing about it.

I think it's a question of someone having their mind made up and no amount of information to the contrary would have any impact.

He feels wronged and wanted to vent. There's nothing more here than that.

WTF? You left them neutral feedback? What are you smoking? By leaving neutral feedback, you encourage them to continue ripping people off. (They may be suspended now, but they may be back).

By leaving neutral feedback, you're part of the problem.

Looks that the OP tried to appease the scammer with a neutral comment, but the villain had none of it. It happens.

Several hundred purchases on DIscogs, a handful of overgraidng issues, nothing major. CHeck the seller's feedback if you haven't bought from them before, and don't buy from anyone who looks dodgy. Seems to work OK.

It's called politeness, something neither the seller nor the members of this forum would recognize.

Ah, so now the whole forum is full of rude people. You sure have a knack for blanket statements and the inability to recognize how people vary within a group.

I guess the irony of calling members of this forum rude being impolite and the fact that you're part of the group you've disparaged as a whole escaped you.

After more than a week Discogs finally removed the negative feedback. The original recommendation remains: when ordering read sellers' negative and neutral feedback and give it proper consideration because if anything goes wrong support from the site is very precarious.

Apparently Discogs feedback has become unreliable. I posted a neutral for a seller because of over grading and yet his feedback shows 100% positive with my posting included. I click his feedback link and then I can see he has one other neutral from April 2020 that isn't registering either unless you click into his feedback link. So be forewarned, don't just accept the feedback tag to show the reality without actually clicking on their feedback link. It never used to be this way. To top it off my inventory is not showing up in my store either for the last week. The things that are happening currently on Discogs are definitely no longer seller friendly leading up to October 1st and their mandatory shipping prices must be included for all sellers spiel.

Neutral doesn't count as positive or negative so that's normal.

It isn't mathematically accurate though, and that is why I was misled into leaving neutral instead of negative feedback. Positive ratings are presented as a percentage of the total number of ratings, hence neutral feedback should detract from positive feedback statistics. If someone has 9 positive ratings out of a total of 10 ratings, they have 90%, not 100% positive feedback.

There would be no point in having neutral feedback then since negative feedback already reduces a sellers rating.

If neutrals were going to count against the rating, they might as well just have positive or negative only because if a neutral is bad enough to reduce someones rating, then it isn't neutral anymore.

What I would like to see on the feedback system is something similar to what eBay does. There should be ratings for description accuracy, shipping time (ie how long it takes them to take it to the post office and not how long it takes the post office to actually deliver) and communication (if applicable).

In general "neutral" isn't actually neutral, it is more like a "small negative". And there is no big difference between a "small negative" and a regular "negative".

I agree that is it a small negative. But I have to disagree that "small" and "regular" sizes are no big differences.

Neutral means I left the ordeal even-stevens, nothing lost or gained. Negative means I left the deal feeling abused and "in the hole" and out my time, efforts, and possibly money.

    Big difference to me.

Yes, big difference for the buyer. But not a big difference for the seller.

Why do people insist on leaving neutral or positive for crooked sellers? You do other buyers no service, and just make it possible for the seller to repeat their offenses.

If OP thinks Discogs is bad he should try something with no feedback system and random 'skill' sellers; like Facebook.

You're kind of being unfair here. I had no idea that leaving a neutral would not register on his feedback rating because I'd never left one before. In the comments though I was perfectly clear as to why I left it so at least if a buyer bothers to check it they will see the reality. All I got out of the deal was zero feedback from him. Fair huh.

Actually a neutral with negative comments could be more useful because they deleted the negative fb I left.

Long story short: the Discogs feedback system doesn't work. Never did. That's it. There are plenty of good honest sellers there, but you just have to find them some other way.
