I would like to see the Simpsons make it to 1000 episodes.

The Simpsons is still better than all those reality shows or music tryouts shows etc

    I don't know, I haven't notice it so far.
Given your reaction, I'd say it is you who's been triggered

It takes about four and a half years for 100 episodes. They'll hit 700 this season so you're looking at about 2034 or 2035 which would be season 46 or 47 maybe.

That exactly what a triggered person would say.

    Ditto

  10. Now there's a backhanded compliment. And it's not true - what with all the incompetents trying out, the episodes early in a season of American Idol are funnier than The Simpsons has been in well over a decade.

It's amazing, really. A show that everybody now hates and absolutely nobody watches anymore is still on the air.

    How does this happen?

Matt's got some compromising pictures of the Murdocks?......maybe?...

I think it's somewhat sad. If they had cancelled the show earlier, it would be more fondly remembered

You think people aren't going to like the old stuff because they like the new stuff? What are you trying to say here? If you don't like the new episodes don't watch them. The ones you like have probably been released on DVD already and they have really good commentary tracks so you don't even have to sign up to some streaming service and be defiled by the existence of the newer episodes.
People do think of The Simpson's fondly, even if they do think it stopped being good after season 9 or 6 or 2... 1 even.

It won’t end with the death of the voice actors. They were prepared to go on without Harry Shearer a few years ago when he left the show briefly, remember?

Maybe it’ll go off the air for a few years and come back on Saturday mornings, with Bart and Lisa as teenagers.

I'd assume when one of the voice actors dies. Will the run end up longer than Looney Tunes (39 years)?

Harry doesn't play anyone from the core family though, I think anyone who isn't a part of the core family is expendable on some level.

Why are you still watching it?

I can't even recall the last time I watched a Simpsons episode. I suppose it's still bad but who knows.

I remember the early seasons fondly right now.

Why dwell on something you're no longer interested in? To the point of starting a thread over it, no less.

It obviously is still getting good ratings, people are still watching it.

    I’m not watching it. I haven’t since the 90’s.
It just should be put out of its misery for the sake of animation & its own reputation.
