John did NOT take this photo. It was taken by Barry Chang, who was the younger brother of Allan Williams' wife. John didn't want to lose his seat in the cramped van, or was just too lazy to go out and pose with the others.
The below two Astrid Kirchherr portraits are perhaps my favourite of the Hamburg dockyards pix, and that's largely due to Stu's presence. There's something about having him out of focus in the background in the shades and slinging that big bass low that's so cool.
On the rooftop of the garden shed at Paul’s house: John, Paul, George and Mike! New “first Beatles film” discovered – The Daily Beatle
Paul and George are only 9 months apart. Paul was born in June 1942 and George was born in February 1963. Generally spearking for the 3 months between February and Jun, Paul and George would be the same age. But boys often have their growth spurts at different ages, Paul probably just had his at a younger age. It's just lucky 3 of the Beatles ended up being almost the same height.
Pete is the best looking at the bunch! By the way Lens Crafter and Eye Exam 2000 is somewhere having a blow-out sale. By one get one free. Might wanna take advantage of it.
This is my second favorite picture of all time of them. Astrid's photos are downright pre-fame defining. Not only are they great looking shots, but she somehow managed to to capture their minds through their facial expressions (or lack of). Nice thread idea.
