George looks like a 30 something Bruce Springsteen.

She and the other blonde are wearing the same dress, so maybe from a group? There were only 2 listed on the bill in the pic tho.

The one in the middle looks to be having a gander at Ritchie's tackle.

What is oddball, no photographs of John and Cynthia's wedding.
    Very low profile marriage indeed.

Yeah you're right. It wasn't the best podcast I'd ever heard, just throwing it out there.

Paul got his Hofner before Stu left the band?

Yes, there was transitional time when Stu was not available because he was in Germany and Paul took over bass duties, first by stringing his Rosetti guitar with 3 piano strings (but sometimes not even plugging it in). Paul was reluctant to take over the bass on a regular base. Stu was on the way out. He got his stipendium in Hamburg and made it clear that the live schedule for their next stay in Hamburg would need to be adjusted to his studies. Still he missed out some gigs and Paul took over again, this time using Stu`s bass (but not restringing it). It became obvious that Stu`s head was somewhere else (Astrid & Art) and that the situation needed a more permanent fixing. So Paul kind of gave in, having been the one taking on different musical roles - drums, piano, singing without guitar - before and now having played himself into the position of the bass-man without really wanting to. So he got the Violin bass in Germany and for a while there were two basses on stage but not being played at the same time I think. When Stu was available he would play his old bass, when not it was Paul with his own new one it seems. Stu gradually slipped out of the band although he even was still playing live at some later time with a different band - maybe he was reluctant to completly give up his musicianship but didn`t want to follow it through on a pro-basis and thus held on to his bass and didn`t sell it to Paul.

PS There even was a evening around this time when Paul and Stu fought on stage though it probably was not about who was allowed to play bass but because of some comment Paul made to Stu about Astrid (unclear). As much as Paul didn`t want to play bass he even more wanted the band to be a working unit and Stu was unrelieable. Plus jealousy because Stu had such a strong bond with John.

PPS the photo where both a holding basses seems to be them tuning to the same note, probably in preparation for the gig to have all guitars ready. I guess Paul then went to the piano (as seen on other photos from that night).

That is probably the strangest photo of those four - they seem in song here - Paul on bass - and Stu just sits with his bass, folding is hands over the neck while George looks at him like wondering what he is doing here on stage.

No. Wrong show. This is a Quarrymen gig prior to John and Paul meeting.

Not a photo, but pre-fame footage that's always worth seeing.

The alleged photo of John in Hamburg with a toilet seat round his neck - never been seen, right?

That is amazing. A few months away from the recording of Love Me Do and they are playing in the cellar of this house:

Paul, the "frustrated drummer", as Ringo would later call him, can't keep his mitts off.

These are not dockyard pics, they were taken at Heiligengeistfeld, where the fun fair is held three times each year.
