Not necessarily... haggis can be gorgeous. I once had beautiful, delicately seasoned slices of a haggis sausage as part of a cooked breakfast at a Scottish B&B... will never forget.
Thanks! Interesting info: The roots of the Tone Poet Audiophile Vinyl Reissue Series lie in the Music Matters Jazz series, which Harley and his colleague, Ron Rambach, launched in 2007 and brought to a close in 2020.
Its not a quote so might not be true. Those two titles (Song for My Father and Speak No Evil) available to pre-order on European amazon sites make me wonder though.
Jesus - are we getting it from Adelaide now too?! Used to be just Sydneysiders uttered such slander...
Could you post a link to those preorders, I can’t find them... What are those anyway, new AAA releases ??
https://smile.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08F6RC7N9/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_imm_t1_ZZGyFbED03B8A and https://smile.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08F6X4NF6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_imm_t1_p1GyFbENJNJTH ... no information yet as to whether AAA or not and 2021 release date.
All In My Mind by Dr. Lonnie Smith sounds amazing, but sadly it is very warped. This is the 3rd Tone Poet I'm sending back. 2 went back to Amazon and a 3rd to a private shop. Any one else in the UK suffering these problems?
TP has already announced the early 2021 releases. Hoping Speak No Evil is legit. Artwork shows as original but this could end up being Grey Market once Amazon updates. I'm crossing my fingers though as Speak is one I missed out on from Music Matters and won't pay the premium on Ebay for it
Truly odd listings. I see they list the cd bonus tracks for the Silver. Hoping to get more info on these soon.
Nope - I have all 28 titles released to date and only 1 had a problem, so I am doing well. For info that was Lou Donaldson and it was badly warped. Actually that return % rate (around 4%) is higher than normal for me for audiophile releases. For other new records it is a bit higher than 4%. For Tone Poets all the pressings are being done at RTI in the States, so there is no separate European versions.
Just cooling was also a surprise... and not an bn80. So hopefully for us overhere we can get those MM titles in a bn80 kinda way. Fingers crossed.
No. I have about 12 TPs... all fine except for one, brief moment of non-fill on Staye of the Tenor Vol 1 - incidentally, possibly the only example of non-fill I have on 2-3,000 LPs. I'd assumed warps were more of a problem in hotter climates.
I have 5 TPs. 3 had to be replaced due to warped/off centre pressings. They were State of the Tenor 2, Etcetera and Born to be Blue
In case it hasn’t been posted : Joe Harley and Kevin Gray Discuss Blue Note’s Tone Poet Series The roots of the Tone Poet Audiophile Vinyl Reissue Series lie in the Music Matters Jazz series, which Harley and his colleague, Ron Rambach, launched in 2007 and brought to a close in 2020.
Back on topic, I received The Cooker yesterday, it sounds fantastic. The gatefold jacket and the photos inside are great too, they look like they were taken yesterday!
That sir, was a cheap shot. Next time I’m in Adelaide I’m going to find you. I’ll have plenty of time on my hands, since there’s nothing to do after 9pm. Bam!
