    Some people never slow down.

    BOOTS NO. 2: THE LOST SONGS is the second release of archival music from the vault of
    @gillianwelch
    and
    @thedaverawlings
    . This remarkable 48 song collection will be spread over three volumes. Volume One will be released digitally on 7/31. Listen to two new songs now and preorder.

  3. It would be great if after the 3 are released digitally they could put them out as a 3 CD set or even on vinyl.

    Yes, but you don't think this release is worth its own thread?

    Listening now. Sounds good; tunes are nice but some are less ambitious than the released stuff.

    I totally agree. A vinyl box set would suit me,

    ooh - i will be abdolutely broken hearted if this doesn't come out on silver disc. the presentation for volume 1 was so classy, i've long waited for a colume 2 in a similar vein...

    I am fairly distraught about the absence of physical media for this release. I will deal with it gracefully, for now -- but this event seems yet another harbinger of a dark and desolate future... [IMG]

    She responded on instagram to someone asking for CD or vinyl with, "We will have news soon. Stay tuned."

    They were so slow to release to vinyl and it seems the reason was they wanted it done right.

    Saw this

    First off, thrilled of course if these 3 volumes came out on vinyl — I imagine they'll announce a pre-order when the 3rd set drops but we'll see

    It's becoming clearer to me that they may not be looking to press Revelator until they're able to tour behind it like they did with Soul Journey & Harrow. Disappointing as I believe Revelator was all but ready to go.

    The Folk Show with Mark Radcliffe - Gillian Welch and David Rawlings - BBC Sounds

    A series of events including contractual deadlines and tornadoes blowing into Nashville (threatening an archive of unfinished songs) led to the hasty creation of 'Boots No. 2: The Lost Songs, Vol. 1', the first in a run of releases that will capture Gillian and David recording in an easy, relaxed state which has already garnered glowing reviews. Even Gillian and David's least polished material offers moving and memorable vignettes, melodies, playing and singing.

    Interview starts around 19 minutes

    ...and around £58 for the CD equivalent. Ouch. Now trying to ignore the mention of "customs"...:)
