The quiet no-publicity midnight release of "Get Enough" was fun and all, but this is different. A new Paul McCartney album is an event.
It could get great publicity too, as a surprise release might be covered by news organisations such as the BBC, and it might help give Paul a sales and subsequently a charts boost. Just last week the Rolling Stones' re-release of Goats Head Soup got to #1 here in the UK so it's possible Paul could get the same.
If it's correct, I wasn't expecting a new album of Paul so soon, but with the recent event sound not surprising if we got something, maybe Paul said "Oh, I could record some stuff and see what could happened"

After the 13 different Egypt versions I'm ready for something a little more old fashioned. How about just THREE versions. Cassette, CD & vinyl ....and maybe a color vinyl. Man I couldn't even contain my maccaholism for one post.
All he had to do was rework the opening line from Heather and go from there: “I want to lasso the moon...”
Hey Grandude! Book + CD Puffin Books on Twitter: "Follow the adventures of Grandude and his grandchildren as they spin the magic compass and ride on flying fish, get chased by a herd of buffalo and escape an avalanche! A stunning picture book by @PaulMcCartney and beautifully Illustrated by @KathrynDurst"
I would think it’ll be like most of the newer releases....a regular cd, a deluxe cd with a few bonus tracks and an LP. But that is just speculation
Once again, context is beautiful. Maccawings post coming right after the one from Who Cares above, made me think of the CD with the book in several variations [or colored vinyl even] and made me chuckle out loud...
I don't want another anything! I would like something new and original! That's one of the traits I love about Big Sir Mac.. there is usually something different about each outing [or at least a track or two that are "out there" in strange new territory...] Variety!
I too want another wonderfully produced, full band album from Paul. This (if it exists) seems like a bonus - an unplanned blast of lock down creativity. At his age, he is more or less forced to stay indoors - and away from folks. I don't see a modest album as a replacement for the next Egypt Station, I see it as a replacement for what he otherwise would have been doing this summer - a continuation of his greatest hits tour. For me, and this is selfish to say, I'd rather a McCartney III (even if I don't like it) than reading the set-list of the show show he was supposed to have played in Paris.
McCI & McCII are both declarations of independence. He gave no ——- what people thought, and in both cases he was just happy to be free after having to taste the bitter truth of imprisonment. And now, amidst COVID and "unprecedented times," as the whole world truly had to stop, it's the perfect time for music man to do his thing. His own thing for no one but himself, and those lucky enough to be listening. The time is perfect for McCartney III. It's good to be alive.
While scouring the internet for any info on Macca’s forthcoming album, came across this great picture. I think they and their mate in the pictures behind them know something we want to know.
I can understand that. I actually really enjoy Egypt Station, but I'm in the mood for something different.
