Linda took the photos for McCartney and McCartney II, so it would indeed be nice if Mary (who appears as a baby on the back cover of McCartney) took the photos for McCartney III.

She shot those pics of her dad for GQ...maybe they knocked out some other portraits at the same time?

Ahh, but would they be “portraits”, or informal pics, ala Mc1? I thought I remembered reading he was in lockdown with her family for a time this spring - seemed like that would’ve been an ideal time to catch some homey snaps of dad...

    Yup:
[from GQ] Many of these questions were answered de facto as the coronavirus lockdown came into force across the UK, leading to both McCartneys spending weeks together under one roof in the family home in East Sussex, and that, as McCartney explained to GQ, gave her an unusual opportunity to capture her dad as she knew him at home when she was a child.

    7 levels-3 lights =4 Beatles-1 Macca= McCartney 3!!

    We’ve cracked it!!!!

Plus those 3 dots on the back of Abbey Road (Beatles final album) = McCartney 3 (final solo album)

    Lennon’s 9 is McCartney’s 3. 9 divided by 3 is 3!!!

    It is ALL lining up.

A cover like that would be great! As long as he doesn't go for a nostalgiafest (like Cheap Trick's We're All Alright) I can't wait to see what they come up with.

I will never in a million years understand the enthusiasm for a McCartney III, which I persist in hoping will not happen. The original McCartney was half a pretty solid album and half unfinished musical doodles. For McCartney II the doodles quotient upped to about 75%. My only glimmer of hope is the possibility that Rick Rubin or some similarly strong producer is involved, as Paul has shown that he usually needs one.

And thank god for that! It's been far too long since he's been behind the console by himself. Nothing against what some of the other guys have done, but I've been longing for Paul to get back to the 70's standard.

Weren‘t there rumors that McCartney recorded around 20 songs assisted by Geoff Emerick in 2009 for a possible „McCartney III“ project? Would be interesting to know if the songs for the forthcoming album are all brand new or if some tracks are from these sessions. If Paul sounds suddenly younger we might know the reason why...;)

Yeah, that's one of the bigger mysteries of recent years to me re: Paul. It was so widely rumored that I hope it's true, but it seems very odd that he'd record that many new (?) songs and just let them sit...

There must be hundreds of recordings in the vaults. While not quite as prolific as Prince or Neil Young - well nowhere near really - still he's a nonstop worker bee. We'll have releases for at least another decade. Happily, I'm only middle aged so I can wait. Keep the stuff in the vault, let the heirs sort it out later (or go Dylan/Lou Reed style and donate it to a scholarship library/foundation.) Meanwhile I hope Paul stays in his studio and keeps creating.

Apparently (I Want To) Come From were a part of those sessions.

IF the strings section were a part of the sessions and given the nature of the song, I have always theorized that those sessions were an early and aborted try on a Kisses On The Bottom album.

Side note: I think Paul still has the Studer. How interesting would it be if Paul tried to go full circle with that thing? Could be more like an experiment to see what he would do with 4 tracks but 50 more years of experience.

I think I'd personally prefer something more fresh than a rehash of the past though.

Paul had already started recording a "Kisses On The Bottom"-type album at Abbey Road in late 2000 (which would have been like a companion to the previous year's "Run Devil Run"), but only a handful of songs were recorded and the project was scrapped to make way for "Driving Rain".
