I agree. I thought it had a lot of good elements But it was like “The Terminator”without Arnie or an extended e-is ode of “The Outer Limits’ without the smarts. I was disappointed in it.
Looper, although I did enjoy Sin City 2. What went wrong? His recent films have been underwhelming to say the least, some are B-movie quality
the Death Wish remake was OK. not necessarily "good", but not a train wreck either IMO... much better than some of his recent low budget cameo work in direct-to-video titles.
Ah, yes. The Kid. Liked that movie immediately when I saw it. Later bought the VHS cassette and watched it more than once. This post/thread motivated me to search for the Blu-ray but could not find that it had been released. My memories of the movie was that it was well cast and that the characters played well off each other and had good chemistry. Also, think that was my introduction to Emily Mortimer.
Thank you. Read the Wikipedia entry. Didn't know it was that much of a hit, i.e., $100+ million in ticket sales. No. 4 movie during its theatrical run. Agree with Roger Ebert's assessment. Disagree with the other critics.
I just saw Willis in Trauma Center. Man, was he bad in this movie. I couldn't help think that he was stoned or drunk during his (limited) appearances. At one point I said to my wife, "Why would that character say that there and why would he say it like that". She said, "He's just reading his lines". I said, "Yeah, but not like he's reading them off a prompter. That's why they call it acting".
I liked him in Red and probably will like him in Red 2. Helen Mirren may have, um, colored my perception.
There's a telling chapter in one of Kevin Smith's books (I forget which) where he goes into some detail about what a jerk Bruce Willis was while making Cop Out. Maybe karma or burned bridges finally caught up with Willis, marooning him in direct-to-streaming purgatory (with Nicolas Cage). I enjoyed some of Willis' big action movies - Die Hard 1,2 and 4 - but he was also very good in smaller character parts like Moonrise Kingdom and Nobody's Fool.
Just watched a 1985 episode of ' Twilight Zone ' with Willis in it. It was lousy but he had hair back then.
