The Monkees (DELUXE EDITION)
Two previously unissued songs? Really? After the endless vault excavations, there are still two new songs never before issued? And cut to lacquer from the original stereo tapes for the first time since the original issue? What source did the mid '80s Rhino and Arista albums use?
Does anyone know if "Run Out Groove" releases end up being available on Amazon or any other 3rd party seller? Or should I be pre-ordering?
Same here. Hopefully they didn't sell 1,000 in the first hour! (My email arrived 27 minutes ago but the first post here beat it by 35 minutes.)
The 1986 Rhino and 1988 Arista issues were a mix of vintage stereo, mono, and 1986 remixes. The Monkees - monkeesmixography
Back in the 1980's a lot of the monkees master tapes were still missing. So arista & Rhino used what ever sources were available. The first album reissued by both Arista & Rhino even used a few mono tracks.
I've never felt more stupid... I cannot seem to order this as I get caught in some weird "vote now" cycle. (Which I already obviously voted a long time ago). Seriously, when I hit "pre-order now" it takes me back to the vote page, with no place to add the item to my cart. I tried 2 different browsers. I'm so confused...
Try signing out of your account and putting it in your cart as a guest, maybe? That might break the loop you're stuck in.
Thank you. Good advice, but it unfortunately didn't work. I literally cannot get to a true preorder link. It's so weird... Also, did they say the release date? I know that the pre-orders stop on 11/9, but I didn't see a release date.
8-12 weeks after the pre-order period, according to the site. Wouldn't surprise me if it's sooner because this has obviously been in production for quite some time; wouldn't surprise me if it was later due to COVID-related pressing plant delays. We shall see!
I don't think that means anything. I don't think you were the 21,000+ person to order this. Most of their titles only end up being a few thousand at best. I think the Idle Race title was under 1400 copies pressed. That thing was selling on Amazon at about $12 at one point. I know the Monkees are a bigger draw than some of their releases. But.. I ordered a few minutes before you in the Central Time zone and my order number was 21919. Last go round, I ordered the Warren Zevon title and my order ended in 21463. I waited until about 12 days before it ended. I doubt they are pressing up 21,000 copies of a deluxe version of Stand In The Fire. I think that this is just part of their order number system and has no reflection on whether you were one of the first 1,000.
Yellow vinyl limited to 1000 units now sold out. Black vinyl is available: The Monkees (DELUXE EDITION) Black Vinyl
Ok.. so those of us who ordered earlier definitely got the Yellow. Because it just now started to specify Black Vinyl on the order page. That wasn't there earlier in the day when I ordered.
