    Casino Royale.

Daniel Craig was at least good in that Bond outing( not keen on his other Bond films). Remember thinking Gerald Butler would have been better in Casino Royale. ££££

Colin Farrell as "Alexander" the great didn't quite have the gravitas for the role, imo.

I'd agree with Nicholson, but only because his performance is a bit off. It's like he's crazy already so when he does go insane it's not that big of a shock. That's more on Kubrick, though.

As far as "Alexander", yeah, Farrell wasn't the best choice, but I think there was some problems with casting in that one. I think Stone's original choice wasn't available (but maybe I'm not remembering that right).

I’m going to disagree, but I don’t want to bog down the thread arguing about it as it would be a unfair detour.

Hm, 2004 ... I don’t know. The movie wasn’t very good. A different actor wouldn’t have helped it that much. But to answer your question:

    Brad Pitt maybe?

He would just do a Jack Nicholson impersonation ( and a good one). :)

I would have said Gerard Butler in Casino Royale if that happened.

Paul Dano in There Will Be Blood. I know it's hard to be on the same screen with Daniel Day-Lewis and be equal, but he just didn't seem right in the role of Eli & Paul Sunday.

Oh ! Have you not seen his clip on YouTube where he re-enacts ' The Shining '? He nails Nicholson.

Not in 1978. Maybe 20 years ago? I just like Kubrick’s vision. I know most like the book and mini-series better.

Well, I might have picked Brad Pitt, but he was starring in Troy that year.
