I really dig this movie. Saw it before I saw Star Wars when I was a kid in the early '80s. For what it is, we'll never get anything like that again in today's film industry; unless it is done as a parody or to be purposefully hip.

I watched it recently. I was excited when it was to air, but my excitement was soon dashed. It did finish the first season but didn't return. When I watched through the whole first season recently, my impression was the same - the ONLY thing they got right was that Princess Aura was way hotter than Dale Arden. Other than that, it pretty much stunk.

    No not really.
They are pretty poor/average on that MSN site.
    just keeping the topic alive.
They lock them too quickly here sometimes.

Finally recieved the 5 disc Studio Canal Box Set the other day. What an amazing 4k restoration they did for this film!
A wealth of extras on the bonus discs, including the 90 minute doco ' Life After Flash' and even the Queen soundtrack thrown in on a bonus CD.
I've always loved this movie, saw it in the cinema back in '80. I know some people dismiss it as trash but I think it has a sort of innocent charm that is quite endearing.
As good as the 4k remaster is, though, there's no way in hell I'm going to ditch my old 1985 pan and scan laserdisc. Now, that has sentimental value.

My first two laserdiscs that I bought were Flash Gordon and Xanadu.

The new 4K UHD blu-ray is stunning. I've owned this on just about every format before it. I was seeing detail I'd never seen before such as the marbling on the walls in Ming's throne room. They did not hold back on quality, it's hard to imagine the film ever looking better than this. If you like the film, get this 4K blu-ray.

One of my favourite films. Still gutted that the suggested sequel didn't happen. Love the old Buster Crabbe cliff hanger serials too.

Favourite scene: Blue Peter's irritating Peter Duncan getting painfully killed playing gardeners' roulette in the forests of Arboria. :)

They are good fun as is his Buck Rogers one. Can't remember which serial featured the Clay People, who used to be able to meld themselves into walls but I used to find them utterly terrifying!

Watched this tonight (the recent Arrow blu-ray), and one thing that always bugs me is the stretched out comic panels at the beginning. I've read all those and love the art from the 30's Alex Raymond strips. I don't see why they couldn't have shown the panels without stretching them out for widescreen and distorting the image.

    Still love the movie, though.
