I don't dislike that cover, but I think it is ridiculously over-rated. Iconic? If it wasn't for who it was, I don't think the cover would be regarded today as particularly noteworthy. Four guys on a pedestrian crossing? Big deal.

The Beatles only did one cover that truly rates as iconic, IMO.

Pretty sure that came from a doodle/joke book that predated that album. I certainly recall the sight gag from well before the album.

Type O Negative's Origin of the Feces.

Literally a picture of Peter Steele's ass.

    Great album though.

I never though either way about the Paranoid cover. Then one day I looked at it properly. A man with a moped helmet, toy sword and his underpants on the outside

I always liked that cover. The album is mostly great (to me) and if it weren't for that cover, I would not have pieced together the fact that Paul was truly dead because the phone number of his funeral home appeared on it when holding it up to a mirror.

I don’t have a problem with the human body. What I have a problem with is art that is distasteful, which this one falls into that category for me.

I'm not a Zappa fan, but great cover.

There was a fad of these joke drawings at one time. I doubt very much if Frank Zappa was the originator of this one.

    Sorry Bob_32-116. :hide:

I love the album but the cover is gross. It certainly does fit the music though.

The Type O Negative cover that someone referred to earlier is an example that I find distasteful. Distasteful, because it's clearly intended to shock or annoy certain people by being naughty.

The Yes cover, not distasteful at all.

It's OK. I think that cover is awful too. It was just that I could not resist the idea of combining two PT covers to make one face.

You probably need to make a peace offering to @RicB .

Yeah, that was cool. And they're my two favorite PT albums.

Nothing at all. As long as you're not Iggy Pop.

Well, the whole idea behind the Atom Heart Mother cover is that they did exactly the opposite as you suggested. After a bunch of spacey album sleeves that preceeded AHM, Pink Floyd ordered their designers to come up with a cover as earthly and un-psychedelic as possible, for the contrast.

    I think it's brilliant.

Sticking to a Yes theme...I hated Tormato as well (the album’s music wasn’t all that great either):
