Thanks, good to hear that we'll get a bit of bonus filler with Vol. 37. Re-upping was a no brainer for me.

Is show #2 typically announced during the early bird window?

I've been a subscriber since around #10. This is the first year that I'm wondering just how many live Dead shows I need.

I think it usually gets announced towards the end of subscriptions being available

I prefer that they wait until just before the individual volume order date to announce the 2nd pick of the year. It's more fun to speculate and anticipate what will be, rather than knowing well in advance.

There’s something about the sound of the April 78 shows that make them some of the most listenable live shows Betty recorded for the dead, in my opinion. I love the mix and and balance of the instruments. The energy the band has going makes for some very enjoyable listening.
Something had changed by the time the July shows happened. They’re still great but the sound is different and not quite as sweet as these April shows imo.

I'm confused, as usual. I didn't hear Dave mention the 2nd release in 2021. What did he say that I missed please?

Dave didn't say what DaP 38 will be, just that he's more excited about the bonus disc than he was about than the Jai Alai Fronton '74 bonus disc this year, apparently. I think the poster you quoted was excited because #37 is the second in the series from William and Mary. I was kind of confused by that post myself until I asked others here whether Dave had announced #38...

15 April 1978- The College of William & Mary.

I see some of you folks have fallen prey to Russian-based internet rumors and fake news that this is not a worthy show. Don't believe a word of what you've been hearing from unreliable sources.

This show is a college gym barn burner par excellence that also provides the deep spaciousness and emotional gravitas making it worthy of an official release. The key fulcrum is the guitar playing of Mr. Garcia, who is 100% dialed-in and on point during this tour.

Wolf + Cowboy Fancy + Mission Control = Stringed Bliss!

Again, do not trust Putin's black psy-ops lies. Put your faith in '78 aficionados like your humble reporter and get yourself subscribed for another year of musical delight. :tiphat:
