I too love that album with all my heart. Jack Irons’ drumming is spectacular on it and the entire band is just red hot.
I actually never thought "this" would happen.....an almost wholesale change in my main system from vintage to modern gear. What has remained is my Sony PS-X50/Denon 301MKII And the purchase was from a distance since my city has no dealer for either the speakers or the amp. Lots of reading....videos....and a developing trust in a dealer (owner) who listened to my preferences closely and was patient as we navigated the purchasing process and options therein. He was amazing to deal with!!! After all was said and done .... here is where I landed Dynaudio Evoke 30's Hegel H90 Music Hall PA15.3 MM/MC phono pre Misc. needed cables Transparent MusicWave Ultra speaker cables (a VERY generous gift from a VERY gracious friend) It's early days I know but I am gobsmacked by the detail, pace, dynamics, imaging and soundstage I am experiencing. I'm a happy camper
Congratulations both on your new system but maybe even more importantly finding a great dealer. The latter are few and far between and the really good ones make everything so much easier. And your speakers and amp breaking in together is great you're sound should continue to improve even more for a bit!
Thank you! Indeed with all the chatter these days about dealers Neil was a breath of fresh air! One thing that I appreciated very much was absolutely no arrogance. Which is something I have experienced in Hi Fi shops before.....and it BUGS me
Congrats also on the setup of your speakers, you have created an empty space between them by using a diagonal setup. Those things are important, you got your priorities straight !
Thx! I get "nailed" often on my setup but diagonal works very well in this room. I often say .... C'mon by for a listen and then tell me it's all wrong ..... no one drops by .... now granted they usually live far away, but still
I had my system in a small square extra bedroom for years. The diagonal setup rendered the best sound by far. Back then I had a few audio friends over and all were amazed at what they were hearing. Congrats on a wonderful looking system.
Just playing catch up on this thread after a busy summer, and have to say this is just sublime! If you made the furniture on your profile page pics you are a very talented carpenter, well done sir!
Well thank you for the kind words. I did indeed make these pieces as well as most of the other furnishings in our home. Furniture building is definitely something that gets me excited, and I am fortunate to make a living doing it.
One little change .... consensus seams to be stacking components is never ideal .... although I have done it in the past when I had no other choice In the previous pics of the new set up the phono pre was sitting directly on the Hegel. The owner of the shop where I purchased everything said that was just fine. Where it sat there was no venting and the Hegel doesn't get too hot anyway. Then I remembered I had this hanging around....an acrylic cover I had made for another application. It works....lots of room for the Hegel to breath and if I add a Bluesound Node 2i there is room for that on top also. And I think it looks ok too
