I realize that the word “success” is subjective (sales, hits, touring, etc) but what bands have had success with two different lead singers?

More specifically, where singer 1 was fired, left, died....and singer 2 came in and the band reached the same level of success. I can think of only a few.

Bread! David Gates and Jimmy Griffin traded lead vocals throughout Bread's catalog, but David's leads almost always were picked for single releases. That's part of why the group split - all 11 of the group's charting singles were written and sung by Gates. That said, Griffin made many invaluable contributions to the group's catalog.
A great Bread track with Griffin on lead vocals:

But they were all lead singers in the band concurrently.

First two that came to mind.

Ironically, Van Halen were originally called Genesis.

Fairport Convention - though I guess "success" is a relative term.

The criteria for this question is a little too wide open because of how success is measured, not only in different eras but in different parts of the world. But anyway...

INXS (Michael Hutchence & JD Fortune)
    Kansas (Steve Walsh, John Elefante & Ronnie Platt...yeah, I know it's 3)
Fates Warning (John Arch & Ray Alder)
Genesis (Peter Gabriel & Phil Collins)
King Crimson (Greg Lake, John Wetton & Adrian Belew...yes, I know it's 3 again)
Journey (Steve Perry & Arnel Pineda)
Toto (Bobby Kimball, Fergie Frederiksen & Joseph Williams...yes, I know it's 3 once again)

    The Hollies

During the period when Allan Clarke left the band and Mikael Rickfors replaced him, they didn't have the level of success they'd had with Clarke, but still managed to place some singles and albums in the charts — though more commonly elsewhere other than the US and UK.

Clarke returned after a couple of years, but The Hollies at least kept going in his absence, with tours and well as albums and singles.

Some of these really depend on how you define success.

Hit singles with Wayne Fontana, and others after he left and Eric Stewart took over lead vocal duties.

No way they had "the same or similar level of success" after Hutchence. They went from big album sales stadium fillers to Where Are They Now status .
