That would be KAOS. ;) (I couldn't resist either).

  2. 2 1/2 years this thread has been going, so somebody's time (and time is money) has been wasted. ;)

Just watched the small Vinyl Rewind Youtube docu. If I understand correctly there exist studio recordings of You Gotta Be Crazy and Raving & Drooling. I would love to hear those. They would be great bonus tracks if at some point the Animals 5.1/deluxe edition sees the light.
Were the Animals tracks on the mythical In The Flesh tour accompanied by backdrop movies? I have never seen or heard anything about it, but who knows.

I dont think that early versions of those songs were recorded but there are early versions of the Animals songs in circulation.

Can’t answer about screen films, but YGBC/R&D definitely exist and circulate in at least formative and distorted studio mixdowns - first found them on a record with “extraction” in the title, but genuinely don’t remember the rest of the title!

I haven't seen the Vinyl Rewind doc, but there is a very good chance that the studio versions of YGBC & RaD mentioned there are the early versions of the Animals songs from the Extraction tapes boot.

I have never heard of any talk about studio versions of the 2 songs in all my Floyd news-sniffing years.

I think the 'extraction' versions can be regarded as still being YGBC and R&D as much as early versions of Dogs / Sheep. Certainly R&D has no lyrical changes, while YGBC's rewrite still only references an unspecified predator in the first verse with the 'bridle & bit' line at the end intact. Clearly a lot of the recording was done while the songs were still under their previous guises, with new vocal / instrumental / effects tracks added as the Animals concept emerged.

There are no studio recordings of Raving and Drooling and Gotta Be Crazy. At the time of the Extraction mixes they were already the reworked Animals versions.

If I am not mistaken, some of the vocal duties are reversed on those extraction tracks.

The lyrics are 100% those of Raving & Drooling and there are no sheep sound effects or prayer section. Is there a timeline that says the band began that recording only after having worked out the animals concept, but decided to record it with the (unrelated) words to the previous song?

Yes. When Roger decided on the Animals concept he added Pigs to the mix which is included in the Extraction tracks. That's where the timeline changed.

Roger sings David's vocals during Dogs. That's the only instance where vocals are switched.

And he sang like s meadowlark. Kidding. I've always wondered why this change was made given that David had been sending those parts live foe some time.

If Time is Money, does that mean The Dark Side of the Moon somehow has one less track than I thought?
