I did the same thing and no catalog. It's nice to feel like a kid again.

That's the only response you could come up with. I understand.

I went to the MD site and clicked "request a catalog" then was like what the hell are you doing and stopped myself. :D

I would argue it does benefit ourselves. We all are trying to live on this planet, right?

Hagstrom Please stop calling them vinyls.

I'm not on their mailing list but I've ordered stuff from them.

I even just got some records from them last week, and I live relatively close. I’m almost a little concerned I haven’t seen it yet...

I got mine recently. Before I opened it my wife thought it was some fashion catalog for my daughter! It was a nice surprise and I can't remember the last time I browsed through such a nice catalog or any catalog for that matter. I've got it here in my listening room to look at while enjoying my tunes. Love it!

MD should do a fold out centerfold in the next catalog. Of an interconnect cable. Life size. Fold it out, fold it out, fold it out, for the full length. And oh là là.

How many $14,000 Koetsu cartridges do they sell because of it? ..

(I love the catalog, like the Sears catalog when I was a kid).

I buy at least one small thing from them every year so I still get it.

You sign up on their site and they send you one every year. I’ve gotten four so far I believe maybe five now

It's 2020 and you guys still get physical catalogs? Give the Earth a break and cancel them. An online catalog is far more up-to-date and comprehensive.

You’re very right, but look at their target demographic and the comments here about the “Sears Roebuck Christmas Catalog”. I’d say they’re making a very savvy marketing move. Trees be damned.

    p.s. got my copy today

Music Direct is selling to people who still cling to physical media and are willing to pay extra for audiophile SACDs and LPs. The environmental impact of the printed catalog is negligible compared to the environmental impact of our physical media hoarding.

I got the catalog a couple days ago. I buy SACDs from Music Direct and some recent gear purchases. I'm on their mailing list. And I like it.

Thankfully, hardwood trees aren't generally used as much in paper manufacture. Softwood species are preferred. Softwood has a much faster growth rate, can be replanted and regrown, and harvested again, quicker than any hardwood. So, I don't feel too guilty when perusing a catalog or reading a book. And I do recycle, which helps my conscience as well.

Oh. Don't get me wrong, I like my new Music Direct catalog just fine. But I was hoping there'd be a Rosewood Edition released in the near future.

Mine came yesterday. Did not look through it. Just put in my magazine rack to impress all of the audio friends who can't come over to my house anymore. :sigh: Thank you, Covid-19. :)

Hard to tell, it really depends on the number of copies they print and on the paper quality

I got into a bit of trouble last year when my wife saw the VPI Avenger listed in the catalog. She said “you paid $3,500 for that turntable? I couldn’t tell her that was really the price of the tone arm upgrade.

That is funny. Between the time of your edit and what I was just about to post this is my response:
She must have only seen the separate price for the tonearm. Consider yourself to have gotten off easy.

Both comments are spot on. Sure, the catalog is a little frivolous but I enjoy the feel and look of it, and I enjoy looking through it.
