Keyboardist or pianist? Not to nitpick. But some specialize and some play piano exclusively while... umm singing the blues (for example.)

If I had to pick Keyboardist. Then maybe Gregg Allman.

Piano probably Ray Charles or Charlie Rich.

I seem to associate keyboards more with Bruce Hornsby than these others, who I generally view as pianists. Tori Amos plays piano primarily as well.

But most of the above choices are legends.

    Acoustic piano... Professor Longhair.

    Electric piano... Keith Emerson.

But you should definitely buy Professor Longhair before you graduate to Keith Emerson.

    :D:D:D

You could drop me on an desert island with nothing but food, water... And records? (Professor Longhair & Earl King.) I'd be happy for the rest of my life. Heck. Come back and take the Professor Longhair away and leave the Earl King discs. I'd last as a rational human being for a few years.

And Elton John, of course. Kind of crazy he hasn't been mentioned yet.

Howard Jones is pretty amazing even in his mid Sixties. Last year's Transform album found him in fine voice.
