I had to do a double take when I read the header, this actually seems like it could be a very interesting collaboration. I thought the last few Croz albums had a Steely Dan quality to them. Let's hope this bears fruit.

Bring it. Gotta love Croz - he just keeps going. Also, some of the most interesting things Donald Fagen's done lately have been collaborations - "Tin Foil Hat" with Todd Rundgren made me wonder why those guys didn't get together sooner to work on their studio tans - so my hopes are high Don and Croz can come up with something special.

This thread inspired me to give Croz's Skytrails a listen. The lead-off track She's Got to be Somewhere sounds like a long lost Steely Dan song. Brilliant.

Crosby played a date or two with Steely Dan recently so it’s not too much of a stretch.

It would be great to see an album with both Crosby and Fagen together. I am still hoping Crosby does a follow up to Sky Trails. I love that album.

He already did follow up Sky Trails. It is called Here If You Listen and it came out in 2018. It's excellent, like all of his recent albums. :)

I am aware of that. I have not heard all of Here If You Listen - only a couple of tacks. However when I heard sounded quite different to the Sky Trails album.

I worded my last post poorly. What I meant to say was a follow up album to Sky Trails with the same band and with a similar style of songs.

Ah, gotcha. I would agree with you that Sky Trails is probably the best of his recent offerings. It's an incredibly strong album.

For those who like Sky Trails, don't miss the CPR albums. They will soon be reissued. CPR is the genesis of the Skytrails Band.

Nice! I know David LOVES SD. Could be a lot of fun,
just as all of Croz' collaborations. Have you heard,
    "Yvette in English" with Joni?

it is on crosby's 1993 album 'thousand roads' and it is beautiful:

he covers jimmy webb, marc cohn and john hiatt on that album too.

Here If You Listen is with the same team that did Lighthouse, Becca Stevens, Michelle Lewis, and Michael League. It's superb.

The Lighthouse gig I caught at Town Hall in 2016 was one of the best things I've seen in the last ten years. Stevens, Lewis and League are all excellent writers/players/singers in their own right.

I hope DC and Fagen knock out a few tunes together, not just one. Either way, good news!

Don't mind who Fagen collaborates with, as long as it's good.

And yes, Yvette is really good!

anyone heard news on his next album?

He's been quiet about it for awhile. Perhaps he is holding it back so he can tour behind it once this Covid stuff is gone.

It’s going to be titled For Free apparently, and includes a cover of the Joni Mitchell song of the same name.
