So my dad found some speakers from a gentlemen online located on the west coast. He messaged him and this was the response he got:

    Greetings,

Thank you for your email. I am very sorry I didn't email you quicker, but I had some family problems and I came back home to Madrid, Spain. I still have it for sale, so if you still want it just let me know and I will find the best and safest way to handle this.

    Yours sincerely,

My father responded and wanted to know where exactly he was located as well as some other questions about the speakers. The response he got was as follows:

    Greetings,

As I told you in my previous email, I had some family problems and I came home to Madrid, Spain. When I listed for sale, I was in the states with business but I had to deliver it back to my home in Spain as I didn't found a buyer before I left.

I am sorry we can't meet and do the deal in person, it would have been the easiest way. Since it is my fault that I am no longer in the states, I will gladly cover the shipping fees. I wish at least to talk on the phone, but my phone is locked on a US network and I can't use it here for the moment (I am searching for someone who can unlock it).

If you want to buy it, I will find a way so you can inspect it before you decide if you want to buy it. Something like an escrow company that will also handle the delivery. I believe this would be the safest way for both of us. If we use an escrow company, you will be sure that you receive it and you inspect it before you decide if you want to buy it or not and I will be sure that, if you decide to buy it, I will get the money for it.

I will wait for your email.

So my father and I both think this is a scam based on what he said. These speakers are quite big and shipping them across the ocean would cost a small fortune first of all. The story seems fishy but i wanted to see what you all think.

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. I would say it is a scam. Once your money is sent overseas, there is no way to get it back. Legal authorities in the US cannot help you in anyway. These type of scams are all over Craigslist.

Tell him to go buy an international calling card. They're way cheaper than getting a phone unlocked.

It sounded fishy right from the beginning so I googled her name and found this forum. Glad I did! Here's how I responded:

    Greetings to you as well,
Actually you got back to me rather quickly, Thank you!
Wow! $4000, negotiable? And you will take care of shipping? Sounds almost too good to be true….
I’m sorry to hear that you were having problems with your family. I hope they are OK. I’m guessing that since it didn’t sell before you left you probably shipped it back home to Spain right? It’s too bad we couldn’t meet in person, it would have been the easiest way. Hopefully we can talk on your phone, unless it’s locked on a us network, in which case maybe you could find someone to unlock it. Anyway, if I want to buy it, is there anyway I could inspect it? Something like an escrow company that could also handle the delivery? I believe that would be the safest way for both of us, don’t you? That way they could allow me to inspect it before I buy it, and if I do buy it, you will definitely get your money!
I did notice that this exact item was on auction a year ago but it didn’t sell, and you are using the same pictures used by the auction company. Could you provide any new pictures? I’d like to see the inside of the melting vessel and the wand and hose.
    Thank you so much!

I don't know why she hasn't responded back again, LOL. Thanks for the tip.

Yes, it's not even a question - the language of the email is textbook scam. Anytime an item is advertised on an in-person sale site (like Craigslist) and the seller replies to an inquiry with what is obviously a pre-prepared story about why the transaction has to be done remotely from a long distance, it's a scam, guaranteed.

I just wanted to say thanks for posting! I'm so glad I saw this thread I just had the same experience. I was trying to buy the pair of JBL4350s that are listed right now on freeclassifieds this week. The price seemed too good to be true and then I got these responses:

Guys I can attest to this. I had the same person with the same name Magdalena Biesaga selling a Tama Starclassic Stewart Copeland drumkit which was way too good to be true and it was advertised on Shoppok. I sent $1800 through a Western Union and it had been a few months since I last spoke with this person and it wasn't until I found this post that I realized I was scammed and I had filed a fraud report to local law enforcement and to Western Union...

I'm sticking to Reverb and Ebay from now on, lesson learned.
