Looks like you got a bit of a bargain there! Barnes And Noble have it on the website for $239. Even with that 30% off in store sale with the membership attached on top it wouldn't come close to the price you paid.

One has to pay attention to the deal threads here on the Forum, they can save you a fortune. Like when I got this for 13 bucks and change:

SZERYNG, HENRYK - Henryk Szeryng Complete Edition - Amazon.com Music

Wow that's a great deal! I'm more of an early-to-mid 80s TD fan (Thief Soundtrack was my gateway and is still my fave), but I may eventually work my way back to the earlier set. It seems to get a lot of positive feedback.

OK, I drank the B&N kool-aid once again.

I decided to try the in-store order as recommended by @Jspmike. The goal? Obtain Bob Mould's Distortion 24 CD box as inexpensively as possible.

Working with a very nice associate who may have been somewhat of a rookie, we plowed through the process during which time I was suckered into renewing my membership. I thought that since it had lapsed, I'd get the new membership bonus reward of 20% off but alas, the system found me and I only got the extra 10%. Dang, should have signed up my wife instead. Oh well, also got a nice looking hardcover journal, free for signing up so all is not lost...a $15 value and this will make a nice gift for someone. I'll get my value back throughout the year at the very least by buying my Prog magazine.

As for Bob Mould? $135 list price minus 30% CDs minus 25% coupon minus 10% member discount = $63.78 (52.75% off). I'll call this mission accomplished!

OMG!!! That's a great price for the Bob Mould box! It's a beautiful set - like you I went for the CD box too (although did not get it for that cheap). All the videos online of the vinyl sets look amazing too but I only have so much money! Very happy with the CD set!

If the new membership bonus reward is still offered this time next year definitely sign up a family member! I used my sons info to sign up this year when I purchased Prince's "Sign O The Times" vinyl set and saved a bunch of money.

    Glad you achieved your mission!

I think Santa knows that the Bob Mould vinyl box, the first one covering 1989-1995, is the only one in the series that I'd want. And I want it a lot!

[Apologies for the non-B&N deal diversion.]

TD has a massive discography, and I only really know the early material. They have distinct phases, their earliest albums being the most experimental, then they developed their sequencer driven sound (which is the feature of this album) before moving more into soundtracks, ambient, etc. I think fans and critics would say that the material covered by the Hades box is the essential TD material. Albums like Phaedra, Rubycon, Stratosfear and Force Majeure are considered by most to be their best, and they are all here along with live albums like Ricochet. If you have TIDAL (for example), you can check the box out before buying, but I have no idea how long the above price will hold.

Allmusic writes: Fans of Force Majeure will find the second part of "Thru Metamorphic Rocks" reprised on "Igneous." So, that could be a title to check out first since you like Thief.

Barnes & Noble are doing their 50% off select vinyl titles sale again starting this Friday. It will include all the titles already in the 25% off sale with approximately 40 titles added to the sale. I have not yet had access to the list of the additions but after doing a bit of detective work I think those titles will include Madonna's "Madame X", Bruce Springsteen's "Western Stars : Songs From The Film", Tanya Tucker "While I'm Livin'" and The Lone Below's "Half Moon Light". I will let you know if and when I find out more (setting up the sale in my store on Friday morning!). I believe the sale will continue until September 6th.

There is also a 30% off all CD's sale starting on Friday and lasting for the rest of this weekend.

    In-store only, or also online?

I'm not sure about online. I only get to see the in-store promotions unfortunately. I guess we will find out Friday. If your local store does not have a CD that you are looking for you should be able to have them ship it to your home so long as it is in the warehouse.

When B&N has an exclusive LP, does it sell the black vinyl too?

It often does (for example "McCartney 3" was available on black vinyl as well as the B&N exclusive blue version). I think my store only has the exclusive Tanya Tucker and when I scanned the album it came up as being 50% off on a future promotion. Another title I just remembered as being an addition to the sale is Josh Ritter's "Fever Breaks". I've already got that on vinyl and can recommend it - especially at such a cheap price!

So I've been unable to find a list anywhere of the additions to the vinyl sale. There is a very long list which features every single record that has ever been in this sale (a lot of the albums featured are now long out of stock) but it's WAY too big for me to print out (I would get into serious trouble if I did!). Primarily the U2, Pearl Jam, Petty, Van Halen ones you listed. How would it work if they are available? Go to the store here and order?

    Thanks for all your help.

Presume some of these may be holdovers from the older list, but in case not, this morning I picked up

    Warm - Jeff Tweedy
Back Roads and Abandoned Motels - Jayhawks
    Paging Mr. Proust - Jayhawks
Stage Fright - The Band (NOT the 50th version)

Also, Western Stars - Bruce Springsteen, as noted above. Was hoping for some Tom Petty, but no luck.

So long as the albums are in the warehouse your store should be able to order them for you. If they are not there may be a few other stores that carry them that may be willing to manifest then to your local. Let me know how you get on and if you need any help let me know.

Stopped by BN today to return an online order and check out the sale. Maybe 50 albums total with the 50% off sticker. Nothing of interest, sadly.
