I find that cover hilarious. And a perfect poke in the eye to religious fundamentalists. Sure, it's hideous--that's the point. Funny guys.

I've been playing it a lot after Haskell's recent passing and I'm embarrassed to say that I forgot just how good it is. An unsung classic for sure.

If we're talking about Blue Note, then that would be the brilliant cover/brilliant album thread, or at least as brilliant as you could be for $50 per cover and one days rehearsal, one day recording for most of the albums. After the label was sold, that's a different story.

To be fair, this group never had good album covers. And then there's Guru Guru's "Hinten".

Delete like 10% of the covers posted and rename the thread "The greatest album covers of all time". Then you finally have a thread with zero derail.

Gosh this was my favorite lp cover ( and lp) when it came out. As a 12 year old i spent days pouring over the triple gatefold photos and scrutinized this cover.

I always liked this cover. Kind of iconic as far as Krautrock records go...

Can, Neu, Kraftwerk and others all had some crappy covers on amazing albums.

It reminds me of a bizarre movie I once saw starring Jeff Stryker called "Be My Bratwurst". Athough he was a porn star and there is nudity in the film it's not a porn film as such, just weird, somewhat tacky, and with clunky acting by all concerned. It's not worth your time seeking it out.

Just about any album on the Pablo label by Joe Pass, Oscar Peterson, etc. Amateur photography and phoned-in artwork. I think they paid their in-house artist with a sandwich.

I see what you mean. There are some really nice ones in there, but many have little-to-no style or even actual design. I guess you could charitably describe them as “utilitarian”

"Did you ever" is different than "all the time."

You need to hike with the right people. ;)

Especially if you're thinking about Deadheads, the idea of some naked hippies in the woods can't seem that unusual.

You're clearly not into a certain DIY aesthetic, right? Big fan of the Neu! artwork especially. Probably my favourite artwork on any album. :righton:
