    I think you're being a bit precious.

Have you ever seen Motley Crue figure in a top 100 list except in a heavy or poodle rock context?

No, I'm not being too sensitive. I'm not angry or hurt. I just think you are taking this thread too seriously. You personally don't respect the music ;therefore, in your humble opinion it isn't considered a classic.

I agree. I'm always surprised when I see Dirty Mind on greatest lists, relative to the three consecutive gems that followed.

I mean, I think all of Prince's 80's albums are worthwhile and provacative, but this one has always been my least favorite 80's album of his. I much prefer the follow-up, Controversy. Not to mention the two landmark albums after that one (which remain my two all-time favorites of his).

I don't think any thread is a waste of time. I read and reply to the ones that interest me.
What is a waste of time is reading posts saying the thread topic is a waste of time or , even worse , that the thread topic has been done before and being directed to a thread that is caked in cobwebs.

    You didn't answer this question:

Have you ever seen Motley Crue figure in a top 100 list except in a heavy or poodle rock context?

No I have not. I didn’t realize that in order for anyone to consider something a classic, it had to make a top 100 list that had nothing to do with heavy metal or poodle music. Thanks for letting me know.

Ok, you win. Congratulations, you win absolutely nothing.

A classic album would be one universally recognized as a classic. It is not one that is your favorite although a classic could be a favorite. A classic could also be something you dislike; if an album is a classic but you dislike it, that doesn't take away from it being considered a classic.

Without going into too many examples, Kind of Blue and Sgt. Peppers are classics.

To quote Bradd (just above): "A classic album would be one universally recognized as a classic....Kind of Blue and Sgt. Peppers are classics."

I add: Motley Crue? Not really...

You just don't get it. I have lost count of the facepalms every time I have stumbled on posts with the young Bowie avatar. Do you think the world cares that you don't like something? What have you put out there recently in terms of artistic expression?

I'm a massive fan of early British punk, but this album only give me a headache. The vocals and the sax are grating

I've re-listened my Gene Clark "No other" CD...
To me it's overblown, indigestible, overelaborate.. backing vocals, strings, pianos, bells, anything.
The only song I like is The true one.

I'm a big fan of Gene Clark and haven't ever took to No Other either. For the same reasons you mention. I also prefer his songwriting on his other albums.

I've had No Other for over 20 years and can't get into it.

Can you tell me a nice Gene Clark album in your opinion?

I dearly love No Other but it does overshadow his other records somewhat. White Light and Two Sides To Every Story are at least as good if not better.

The One I don't love as much as many is With The Gosdin Brothers. Pleasant chamber pop and overwrought New Bob Dylanisms make for a slightly unsatisfactory listen, at least for me.
