There is much conflicting info from music direct as compared to the mofi site. Oh well, maybe still can get this eventually.

Thanks for posting the answer from mofi.

FWIW, I just saw that the DR numbers for the old CD's and the 1999 Arista reissues appear to be identical. Haven't compared them myself, but that seems to suggest that the 1999 CD's were just clones of the old ones.

  10. Have the SACD. This may in fact be the first rap title in my collection. IMHO It’s a novelty record with Walk This Way being worth the price of admission. Not sure why this title was chosen but it’s a fun record to play once in a blue moon. SQ is very good. If you’re a Run DMC or Aerosmith fan, I recommend.

Why was this chosen? Probably for variety (many here complain of a lack of variety with the label) and it was a huge seller reaching number 3 on the Billboard charts. Nice to see a change rather than announcing titles for the third time. Kudos to Mofi for attempting to branch out here.

    Novelty act? No.

  12. Novelty record as I stated, IMHO, yes.

    You are underselling it. :)

Raising Hell is one of the greatest albums of all time.

  14. I buy em’ all regardless to support MFSL SACD format. Hopefully we will see a new Miles Davis Kind of Blue SACD soon!

I love seeing rap albums get the audiophile treatment. Some of the 80s and early 90s rap CDs really are sonically great.

And c'mon "novelty item..." news flash this "rap" thing is here to stay. Frankly "Rock n roll" seems to be more of a niche now. Rap/Hip-Hop is mainstream.

I disagree that this is a novelty record but unfortunately I do think that 'Walk This Way' was the reason it was chosen. If you look at what MOFI have released since or are due to release, the word 'variety' isn't what springs to mind. I would love them to be more adventurous but I can't see it unfortunately. Great SACD though!

Yeah, I wouldnt hold my breath for the 2 LP 45 rpm set of NWA. Raising Hell was a one off.

I don't think that will be because of the music, but rather that the Rap-Hip Hop listeners began with cds and are now predominantly streaming.

Nah, there will be another hip-hop SACD.

If you began listening to Grandmaster Flash or Run-DMC, you were listening on vinyl.
