Iain and Egbert Derix here in a song from their In The Now album.

Autobiographical? w/ references to Iain's career.

I may be wrong, but I think we were the first to cover Prince on record. Kinda proud about that, if so.

We had massive and varied record collections.

    Yes....I love this so much!

Seems autobiographical to me also, tho' Iain came to terms with his non-commercial approach and mind set--at some point it became far less about the masses accepting him by opening their wallets, and has been all about the music. It has always been about the music. I a sure he makes a comfortable living...and thats all we can hope for in this world today --the riches that Iain has achieved in his music can't be measured in dollars.
God bless Ian's in these times, now more than ever.

Iain just may be the most stunningly beautiful voice in music today, or in the last 50 years and then some. IMHO.

I saw Iain perform this, I guess about ten years ago, in his Limburg hometown.

    Thank you!

It was part of our setlist, yes. We played it in clubs, for sure. When touring, I think we focused on originals.

  13. I saw Iain perform late 2019 - the tone and timbre of his voice were stunning for a musician of any age, let alone someone of Ian's lengthy touring and performance experience.

    Best Wishes,
    David

    1994

    I Drove...and much more. Fantastic!

Iain Matthews at the Armadillo WHQ Homecoming Concert (1994) Iain Matthews is an English singer songwriter who initially sang with Fairport Convention before forming his own band Matthews Southern Comfort. They had a number one hit in the UK with a cover version of Joni Mitchell's song "Woodstock". This performance introduced by Micael Priest, was recorded at the AWHQ Homecoming show at the City Coliseum on September 2, 1994, when Iain resided in Austin, Texas. The band includes Mark Almond, Glen Fukunaga, and Paul Pearcy. Produced by the Austin Music Network.

I've mentioned before in other threads that I love the multitracked vocal of Matthews and Mike Nesmith on this song. The haunting chorale effect is sublime.

Iain's lovely reading of the Danny Whitten's classic..timeless.

"I Don't Want to Talk About It" written by Danny Whitten and originally recorded by Whitten's band, Crazy Horse, in 1971, is best known from Rod Stewart's 1975 version; however, it was earlier recorded by Ian Matthews on his 1974 Elektra album, Some Days You Eat the Bear...

I have this wonderful promo LP...still in the shrink.
I know, I keep bragging about it, but it makes me so happy!
