Hear about more & more celebrities leaving us this year, but this will not stand with Mr. Bridges. Best wishes for a speedy recovery, sir.
Jeff looks like he's doing well - he's got a great attitude, helpful supports, and a cute puppy to boot. I don't know about you, but I take comfort in that.
Of course any cancer diagnosed at an earlier stage has a better prognosis, but that's not what makes some subtypes of lymphoma more treatable than others. It has to do with the actual cells that present with the disease. Generally non-Hodgkins is the more lethal, but some subtypes of Hodgkins are even worse. I know a bit about this because my kid was diagnosed with Hodgkins lymphocyte predominant lymphoma, which is a more treatable type. It's most common in middle aged men and you can understand someone like Bridges being diagnosed, but how my kid got this at age 3 really threw me for a loop, and was just an unmitigated nightmare. Plus, he's got the most important thing to get the best health care: tons of money.
I can vouch for this. I was diagnosed with a rare form of non-hodgkins about 5 years ago. Good luck to Jeff, it isn't fun.
Great update from Jeff last week. Tumor's shrinking, good vibes about the state of things, and a new tune. LATEST — JEFFBRIDGES.COM

No, it's that way everywhere. That's why wealthy people from countries with universal healthcare go to other countries and pay foreign doctors if they know they will get better care.
As an Australian, I can't relate to that at all, and honestly can't really bring to mind a real-life instance of that happening for anyone I know or have known - I know one or two people who went to Bali to get dental work done, but that's about it. Returning to the topic at hand, it's great to hear Jeff is on the mend, not to mention a shock to hear how bad it got for him. He sent a scare through the system for sure with that one. Doubt I'd ever be emotionally ready to deal with losing the Dude.
A bit of a side note--Jeff is an accomplished photographer, he uses a Widelux panoramic camera while on set and gives everyone on the crew a book of photos taken during the shoot. He was recognized by the International Center of Photography for his work in 2013. There are a couple of books of his work available with some really neat images.
