Inheriting my dads collection saved me a fortune....he's alive and well, just doesn't do vinyl any more.

I honestly think the first Queen album on which there's a track I really don't care for is Jazz, and that would be Dreamers Ball....

Can't believe I didn't mention that I found a minty original of this in a charity shop just this morning. Cleanest copy I've come across yet. I already have the copy thats been in the family since 1975, but I couldn't let it pass when it was a mere £2...

There's something special about having an original ANATO with a clean sleeve and record. Very few and far between now.

...the cover of the copy I already have is almost as black as Day At The Races...

  8. A masterpiece, perhaps my third favorite Queen album after Queen II and A Day At The Races.

There's this clicking sound at the end of Love Of My Life which I always expect to hear every time I hear it. Its unique to that copy though....

I don't have many of my parents old records and the ones I do have don't have any family history to them. Sadly my Dad sold records often. I couldn't understand it, but he was unemployed bringing me and my sister up so mustn't grumble. I don't think my Mum has ever owned a vinyl album. Certainly no records at all that I know of.

My childhood copy of Sheer Heart Attack went "My new purple shoes" click "been amazing the people next door". I still imagine it like that, even playing the CD.

That's where I am. 3/5. Adore half of it, "Sweet Lady" is not up to snuff, "Prophet's Song" is epic alright-epically tiresome and gimmicky, and after 45 years of "Bohemian Rhapsody" overplay/exhaustion this just isn't an album I feel motivated to listen to very often. I find SHA much more musically exciting, ADATR is more consistent and cohesive, NOTW is a stripped-down left-turn masterpiece, and JAZZ is just batsh*t nuts and I treasure it.

I'll add that the Scheiner 5.1 mix of ANATO is one for the ages; it even elevates "Prophet's Song" to the category of listenable

I think the album is so ingrained in my pysche that its sort of above criticism for me. I know it isn't really though.

    Very, very good.

The Bohemian Rhapsody, on the other hand - great song but in all honesty I'd be okay if I never heard it again.:)

Amazing! It'd probably be ANATO and ADATR combined.
