    Very good

“‘39” is my favorite song from it.

1990s and early 2000s car boot sales and charity shops saved me a fortune and got me into loads of great music I wouldn't have otherwise thought of. The likes of Queen and Bowie albums could be found in great condition for only a quid or two each. I miss that. I found it exciting not knowing what was going to be there, but there was nearly always something. The core of my record collection was bought in that era.

ANATO is okay - but I think ‘Sheer Heart Attack’ is better

..wish I'd got back into vinyl much sooner, but that collection was an excellent starting point. I still had some of my old stuff, but had regrettably got rid of too much of it.

To be fair I wouldn’t be bothered if I never heard BoRhap ever again - and I’m a Queen fan.

I like them too. I prefer their first two albums, nothing silly there, and Sweet Lady isnt good. But I'd still call it a masterpiece, flaws and all. Ambitious. Death on Two Legs is such a great opener.

It was also the first studio album I heard, so it's special in a nostalgic way. So I'm biased. My stepdad gave me it when I couldn't stop playing his copy of the Greatest Hits LP in early 1984.

Sort of agree, but that 'silliness' was kind of always there with Queen. They were pompous, outrageous, ridiculous and totally overblown. And there's nowt wrong with that.

    A masterpiece.
I got this album when I was in elementary school, around 1978 or 1979. It fascinated me to the point of being almost hypnotized by the music. The gatefold cover intrigued me, as did the music. I was curious about how the black one sounded, but it would be a long time before I would find out. In those days of not having much money getting an album meant a lot because it didn't happen often.

Nothing less than a Masterpiece! Queens' only 5/5 record (IMO)

This is a true politician's poll: you've spared yourself the personal anguish of anything less than a "good" rating. And if you're trying to work your way into my favour with this kind of underhanded stunt, then it's succeeding. :)

Rated it very good but I actually
prefer it’s sister album, A Day at the Races, far more.

Errrrrrr? This is a Queen album, right? :uhhuh:

Original copies are very good sounding. Even though I've also got an Italian original - bought for the clean cover and 9€ price tag - that sounds unbelievably good as well. Both better than West German copies.

Unfortunately the days were this - or other early Queen albums for that matter - were plentiful and always well within the 10€ range are well and truly over.

Haven't heard this album from the box but "Queen II" is a very nice remaster. And also a bit over the top with its two one sided discs. One white, one black vinyl with an etched "Queen" logo on the b-sides. :righton:

Why did "Queen II" receive that treatment? Apparently that album is important to the band?!

Dunno, I don't hear any silliness in the first two albums. For me, that started with "Leroy Brown".
