Welcome to 2021 everyone ......what a year we have ahead!
We hope you are all keeping safe and healthy, and spending time with your families over this period.
On a positive note, it will be quite a busy year ahead for Purple material. Celebrations around the 50th anniversaries of Fireball and the recording of Machine Head are being planned. Stay tuned!

Fireball was the first album I ever bought with my own money and, all these years later, still one of my faves. Being sandwiched between In Rock and Machine Head, it kinda gets overlooked. I look forward to joining this year's celebrations.

Thats great news, but I don't know what they can really do here?
I suppose the last remaster was 26yrs ago...:D

The tour is covered by the Long Beach 1971 show, which is excellent.

It'll be interesting to see what is included in the packages. Purple were exceptional during this era.

Fireball is great, but I doubt they will reissue this album again.

Interesting that they skipped over In Rock. I feel like there isn't anything left in the vaults at this point so not sure what they could possibly do.

Really odd (to say the least) that skipped 'In Rock' 50th anniversary (!), yet they're releasing 'Fireball' and then 'Machine Head' next year

I’m always open to some celebratory Deep Purple, but like others, I’m wondering why In Rock didn’t get some special treatment last year. You could blame Covid, but who among us would say no to a 50th + 1 anniversary edition this year?

We’ve had some good re-issues in the past (including Fireball with the bonus tracks some years ago), but when it comes to asking fans to pull out their credit cards, not much is an easier ask than a 50th anniversary release.

Whatever they’ve got planned, though, count me in.

I love Fireball and it would be nice to see what they have got for us in the vaults. Freedom and Slow Train (which was later re-hashed in a Rainbow song, right?) are the only outtakes I know of, but they were very productive and creative in 1970-71 so who knows what else is out there.

Unlike 1970 or 1972, 1971 is the year of the MKII with the least amount of material. Audio and visual

Other than the famous Beat Club 1971 and Long Beach 1971, there isn't much material that has been released
There're several audience recordings around. Not sure how many soundboard/multitracks are there

Fools is sublime. I wonder if any outtake versions exist that may put a new shine on the song.

Considering what came out as Machine Head 40th anniversary, I don't expect much.

I don't think there is a lot in the vaults for the MKII band based on the archive releases so not optimistic on bonus material.

My favourite DP record. Beyond a 5.1 mix, I can’t see myself adding yet another copy.

The 25th? Anniversary Remix (2nd cd) is the bomb. They never topped Machine Head (imo).

There have been a ton of remasters... I have this 2016 half-speed analog mastered from the tapes one here:

    Deep Purple - Fireball

It's almost too full-on  not sure how much further they can really go to improve it...
