Kinda Bose-like. First thing that came to mind was the "vintage" Bose 601.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I thought that there was just a recent thread that said Sony was getting out of audio altogether????

Somehow, I get the feeling that "ambient, room-filling sound" is something I would be much happier without.

So has this got blueteeth? ... :)

I'd love a more accurate version of what Bose did back when, with the _01-series of speakers.

I've always fancied omnidirectional speakers, as I'm not a "sweet spot" guy. In fact, I don't give a monkey's about "soundstage". I'd love to be able to hear the same sound everywhere in the room; but sadly the good omnidirectional speakers all seem to be more $ than what I can afford. Omni is a tough engineering challenge, for rather obvious reasons.

This Sony speaker looks like a rather expensive option for the crowd it's aiming for, perhaps. Based on the promo, it seems someone at the company is being influenced by Bose, and Bang & Olufsen in particular; kind of lifestyle product, but leaning towards the audiophile market.

    I wonder if there'll be a dealer network ...

I'm on your team! But there doesn't have to be a "but sadly" part to the story.

I have multiple systems in my former listening room for just this specific purpose.

I don't care about "imaging" favoring instead a big full sound that you can listen to anywhere in the room.

If you look under my equipment listing, I have put together a tour of my former audio room, it illustrates the point nicely.

I can walk almost anywhere in the room, turn in any direction and the sound will be anywhere, all around me.

You can achieve this with multiple speakers, perhaps even better than with omni-direstional speakers.

    Thank you!

The beauty is the versatility of the system. You can listen to a single system, two systems or three systems all using the same analog or digital source.

Solid state and tube at the same time. Being able to adjust the volume of each situation independently to achieve the optimum balance for what you are trying to achieve.

There is home audio and pro-audio, new and vintage gear, many combinations are possible, for all types of music and venues.

I would consider if it was Roon ready but unfortunately not at least based on the details page.

If rooms and their ambience had ears, ambient room-filling sound would be awesome.
