Jagwar Ma- Howlin'. Released in 2013 but sounds straight out of the 80's. Basically a summation of everything good pop/dancewise from that era IMHO.
Mythic Sunship-Another Shape of Psychedelic Music. First listen, digging it so far. Jammy space rock with sax.
Not sure I love it, but I like it. I'm willing to bet you won't crash to it though. Is crash a Worcester thing? My roommate used to use that all the time at WPI (but hell, he was from Maine). I don't hear it used often these days.
Hmm...may be a Woosta thing, not sure. A few weeks ago I remember another member being confused by the term, like I was using the term literally. The Mythic Sunship stuff is cool but I'm trying to decide if its something that's really going to resonate or just another solid noise rock album that I'll eventually forget about.
I just became aware of the Robert & Toyah’s Sunday lunch vids on YouTube... ...and they’re wonderfully kooky. That one really caught my eye!
A wet and miserable morning here, so lockdown biting a bit harder than usual. Consoling myself with Burnt Friedman and Jackie Liebezeit “Out in the Sticks”
Flying Burrito Brothers- “Last of the Red Hot Burritos “. Quite patchy, but some good renditions of some great songs. Bought this in my final year at school - I was 17 or 18. My mates all thought I had lost my mind and I could only ever play it when I was on my own
I’ve been in the same boat with most releases on that label. I like just about everything I’ve heard, I like the aesthetic, etc. but none of the records seem to stand out and demand repeated listens. I’ll keep on it, but that’s my overall impression at the moment.
Outside is Ezra Pound's "Ancient Music": Winter is icumen in, Ludde sing Goddamm, Raineth drop and staineth slop, And how the wind doth ramm! Sing, Goddamm! Inside, milder, but temperamental, with only the occasional moments of chill. Goddamm, Goddamm, ’tis why I am, Goddamm, So ‘gainst the winter’s balm. Sing goddamm, damm, sing Goddamm. Sing goddamm, sing goddamm, DAMM.
