OK, last night, I tried the first episode of S.W.A.T. It went down OK in a slick, flashy way. But it seemed far more driven by action sequences than plot development, and the characters seemed pretty stock. I'll try a few more episodes as something to watch while I eat dinner, but my hopes are not high.
Wonder if Bosch will turn up in any of the stories... Netflix probably means a different actor though
I've read maybe 10 books but that was a long time ago. I'm fine with the show ending after the new season because they don't do much with it. Not much time passes and Bosch is "just" a cop. The book series has much more variation. Bosch being a private eye, more locations outside of the city, more lady friends etc
He's in the latest Lincoln Lawyer novel, The Law of Innocence, but that might be too new to be included in the Netflix series.
Connelly addressed this on Twitter: “No, there will not be any crossover of characters from the Bosch series. It's a character rights issue.”
Am I the only one that thinks Mickey Haller is a dull character? The movie with McConaughey was bad. Real bad.
The movie. And I will admit I was trolling a bit with the Haller opinion. I only saw the movie. I really did think it was bad, though.
The books are great. He’s a similar character to Better Call Saul. I predict the new Netflix series is going to be a smash hit like Ozark.
Great news as it’s a really good series although this “spin off” sounds a lot like it could also be called “Season 8”.

Good news yes...sorta. But I ain't paying for that imdb thing. I don't think many will. I didn't know it excisted before this thread. The show will be cancelled quick I'm afraid
I believe that IMDBTV is a free streaming app, but, has advertisements. The paid streaming services models seem to be about new subscribers, so, maintaining a fan base does not incent them to keep a show. Advertiser models, on the other hand, are looking for large watchers. So, a popular show has a better chance on a free/advertiser model than it would on a subscription model. Keeping fans as opposed to constantly drawing new fans.
Alright. I haven't watch a tv channel with advertisements or that sorta of thing for over ten years. Hard pass.
"Bosch" is currently on Amazon Prime. Amazon Prime lists IMDB shows on their service already. It will show up in your Prime Video screen just like it did when it was an Amazon Prime production. The only difference is commercials. I watched an IMDB show, Alex Rider, a few months back and I don't remember the commercials being too bad.
I watch shows on IMDB TV for free and the ads are not long and they don't show that many. Hulu and Paramount Plus (CBS All Access) show a lot more ads than IMDB TV and charge you a monthly fee on top of it. More new Bosch for the price of a few commercials? Count me in!
Other than the occasional sports event that I elect to watch live, I haven't watched a show with commercials in a long time. If imdb commercials are short and not 20m of a one hour show then maybe.
