Thanks, it’s been with me a very long time but this is the last place it will be hung. I took some serious double sided tape that isn’t going to give up to make it stick to that wall.

You might be a redneck if you have an amp on top of an amp while playing Waylon’s greatest hit. I need to get organized but I’ve been pulling apart equipment and trying things out. That tube amp was pulled from a Magnavox console system, it makes about 8wpc. I got it for about $100 and it came with original tubes that test strong in the original boxes. That phono stage has a volume control so I just connected it directly to the amp and let it rip. It’s not going to blow a hat off your head but it sounds really nice, mellow but nice. I may dress it up with some wood trim but the connections are such that it’s always going to look like a rats nest.
Mal Waldron Quintet: Hard Talk Mal Waldron — piano Manfred Schoof — cornet Steve Lacy — soprano saxophone Isla Eckinger — bass Allen Blairman — drums Recorded at the East-West Jazz Festival in the Meistersingerhalle in Nürnberg, West Germany on May 4, 1974. Killer live date featuring, aside from the leader of course, Lacy's soprano flights (he was really geting in/out in Europe during this period even playing with the Globe Unity Orchestra) and Manfred Schoof (a progenitor of the Euro free scene and also a regular with Globe Unity, Schlippenbach et al) but this date is more "in" than "out" even though it's certainly adventurous . Think Dogon AD for some context. Only limiting factor TME is the playing of Blairman (who played with Embryo as did Waldron) who seems to straighten things out a bit too much and state the beat/puse pretty heavily. That may be the result of a kick drum that is forward in the mix for a Jazz recording but hey, look who's talking. Essential Waldron no matter. Original cover:
So we shared at least one common space....IWT. And I know those mics quite well. Deano and I share a 'hood....along with Mountain Girl. So, a few years back we (me and the missus) had tix for MMW in PDX. We were caravaning with Deano but at the last minute Mrs Ax had to take call so we met at a local tap house and I gave our tickets to a friend of his that (IIRC) was in from "back East". That wasn't you was it?
Featuring one of my favorite Coltrane tunes and one I always thought (wished) would be a perfect vehicle for stretching out (like Spiritual or India) but never developed:
