I think Cony Island Baby completed that contract (RCA), at least when I go by the RCA/Arista box set.
Althought I don’t doubt it to be an artistic statement I do think in part it was Lou flipping the bird to RCA when they demanded a follow-up to the Top 10 success of Sally Can’t Dance. I think it was a smart move, cementing Lou as an unpredictable force with a degree of artistic freedom.

Liam's last album was a no1 in the UK, a live album of Liam singing a bunch of solo and Oasis songs. Liam's success is great for Noel as songwriter of many of the songs he performs live Noel is picking up royalties. Liam also keeping Oasis in the public eye is also great for Noel, the primary songwriter of that band.

Noel likely gets satisfaction from Liam failing with Beady Eye or him succeeding as solo act.

Dennis Wilson had an affair with and later married Shawn Love--the illegitimate daughter of his bandmate, cousin, and arch enemy, Mike Love. I hesitate to use the word "greatest" to describe this, but it was surely an aggressive act of vengeance. I love the Beach Boys, but they are indeed a diseased bunch of mofos.

I don't even like Queen, but I do enjoy seeing people get themselves into knots trying to explain why they are not one of the biggest bands of all time.

Eminem identified his real-life high school bully by name in a song called "Brain Damage." In the lyrics, Eminem calls him a fat kid and a racist, and beats him senseless with a broomstick at the end. He poses with his foot on the fallen bully's chest. The actual person sued Eminem and lost.

They appeared perfectly happy to give it to him, though. I think they were glad to clear up any lingerng bad blood.

This. I always have a laugh at that scene in Imagine where John and George are kicking ‘Beatle Ed’ while he is down. ‘Number 5 in Sweden.’ Those comments didn’t age well.

Less of a revenge against the Beatles but the music press who had ridiculed his name by associating it with failure for the last 50 years.

Pete's a multi-millionaire and now has appeared officially on a Beatles record. His name will go down in history as a Beatle, even if for a short time, while 99% of the people who mocked or pitied him in print will be forgotten. I think we can say that Pete has had some kind of revenge on the position he was put in.
