Rock band with kind of an old school 80's/90's sound to go along with a bitchin' album cover. Plus, they are from Boston... What's not to like? OK don't answer that.

101 Strings “Astro-Sounds from Beyond The Year 2000”. I guess in 1968 the year 2000 seemed impossibly far away. From 21 years further on most of this seems very dated, though some does have a certain charm. Unlikely to get another airing for quite some time.

Because I've never heard them uttered in the same sentence, let alone seen them together on the same...well, anything. :)

NME/Charley Pocket Jukebox. Originally one of a series of great compilation cassettes put out by the NME during the 1980s and, as I recall, only available by mail order. Other favourites were “The Tape With No Name” (New Country as it was then known), “All Africa Radio” (self explanatory) and “Straight No Chaser” ( Jazz of course). As far as I know this was the only one to be released as a CD. Great selection, with something for pretty much everybody.

Oh, help me in my weakness
    I heard the drifter say
As they carried him from the courtroom
    And were taking him away

My trip hasn't been a pleasant one
And my time, it isn't long
And I still do not know
What it was that I've done wrong

I always preferred REM when Stipe had hair and you couldn't understand much of what he was saying. Like the aptly named debut.

    Remains my favorite REM.

Same, but my favorite R.E.M. is Chronic Town, which is a perfect EP. Beyond Fables they started to lose me.

While no doubt some jazz fans don't like Braxton's take on Parker (or standards), I recall nothing but praise when this set was blown out into an 11-CD box in 2018.
